Great story, kept us engaged the whole time!
Revisado: 09-01-22
We listened to this story on the road, as we drove thousands of miles and as we landed unexpectedly in the hospital…so over a series of weeks. The characters and storyline were engaging and easy to follow, as we listened through all 3 books in a row. We hope there is a sequel dealing with those left behind, as we were rooting for them to see the truth all along!

Historia
Accused of domestic terrorism, Emilio Vega was on his way to a Department of Global Security death camp when the mega-quake hit. The streets beneath his transport vehicle buckled, tossing the van in the air like a toy. He survived the crash, but the world is now in ruins. However, for a condemned man, this disaster may be just the lucky break he needed. Emilio has been left behind! Six detainees were in the van prior to the quake. However, only Emilio and one other prisoner were still around when he regained consciousness.

Quick pace, good story
Revisado: 06-05-22
I didn’t know about the prequels, so I need to look into those, but even without reading those, the characters were easy to follow and the story was still compelling. I look forward to reading/listening to more from this author and I hope the same narrator, as he was easy to listen to, had some great accents and made the characters come to life.
If this is your genre, I highly recommend this audible book.

Historia
From the invention of writing around 3,300 BC, the world has mostly been ruled by kings. Though called by different names: Pharaohs, Chieftains, Emperors, Caesars, Sultans, Khans, Maharajas, Monarchs, and Dictators, they act the same. Power, like gravity, concentrates into the hand of one person, who rewards his friends and punishes his enemies. In socialist and communist countries, too, though professing equality, they inevitably end up being ruled by dictators.

Great insight!
Revisado: 03-31-22
He talks about the history and centuries gone by, but you would swear it is all current events. Did Plato see into the future and spoke of both then and now? It sure seems so. The entire book is excellent, Chapter 36 is one I will go back to and recommend others read, if they can't make time for the entire book.
Thank you, William J. Federer!!

You will be disappointed to have it end
Revisado: 03-30-22
The characters are well developed and relatable in the situation. The story is fast paced and intriguing. If you aren't familiar with Middle Eastern names, you might have to pay attention as the chapters go back and forth, but by the end, as they merge together, it is pretty clear--at least it was to me. Some surprise twists which left some sadness, but also established a realism, and a desire to have the story continue as it closed were some takeaways.
Also, I would have liked in to know in the authors' prologue which scene was based on reality, so I could have identified that at its place in the story, but knowing it at the end was still interesting.
Highly recommend if you are a intelligence gatherer, law enforcement groupie, or just like a bit of intriguing fiction.

Historia
In the small town of Bacon's Corner, powerful demons are working to ensnare the souls of the townspeople. A woman has been murdered, the Christian school is under attack, and the town is divided by a legal struggle. As heavenly beings rally to aid the faithful, gigantic evil ones are on the alert, looking for any sign of weakness. Each fast-paced chapter of this novel is filled with vivid descriptions of angels and demons. And the trials of the believers are no less absorbing. Richard Ferrone's dramatic narration highlights each test of faith and truth.

Headlines from today coming to life!
Revisado: 08-10-21
So excellent! The storyline is engaging, not a dull moment. The educational curriculum being inspired by the dark side sounds very familiar to the headlines of today, the judiciary seeing wrong in the right, the child welfare workers trying to expunge "religion" (aka Christianity) from the minds/hearts of children -- and the heavenly realms fighting on behalf of the prayer warriors who intercede to bring forgiveness, healing and redemption -- all adds up to compelling storytelling! The narrator does an excellent job with varying voices (especially the demonic 😬) and keeps the listeners' attention in a good way.
Highly recommended!

Just as excellent in audio form
Revisado: 05-28-21
Many years ago I read this book and remembered how excellent and engaging it was, so when I got ready to take a long trip and found it on Audiobooks, I was excited to revisit this story. The narrator does an excellent job with many varied personalities, finding a number of voices to represent the story well and keeping the pace of the dialogue moving. I highly recommend this, especially if you want to be challenged by the idea of powers and principalities existing beyond our realm, but also entering into contact with humans.

Historia
Recruited by the US Army and Navy from small towns and elite colleges, more than 10,000 women served as codebreakers during World War II. While their brothers and boyfriends took up arms, these women moved to Washington and learned the meticulous work of codebreaking. Their efforts shortened the war, saved countless lives, and gave them access to careers previously denied to them.

This book will suck you into WWII history with its approach
Revisado: 03-17-21
I had no past knowledge or even a special interest in the topic of code breaking by women or men in the build-up to and throughout WWII. I purchased this book because I enjoy biographies of interesting people and I was planning a long road trip. It turns out that this narrative is filled with the stories of many interesting people, told in a firsthand perspective, so you begin to live their stories along with them. It took a few long road trips to finish the book, but it was well worth the time. The writing is engaging and the narrator presented the story very well with varied, but not annoying, tones, pitches and accents. I do recommend this book for anyone who has an interest in history, people, or the backstories of how the US Government built what has come to be the NSA.
