Historia
In the chaos following World War II, the US government faced many difficult decisions, including what to do with the Third Reich's scientific minds. These were the brains behind the Nazis' once-indomitable war machine. So began Operation Paperclip, a decades-long, covert project to bring Hitler's scientists and their families to the United States. Many of these men were accused of war crimes, and others had stood trial at Nuremberg; one was convicted of mass murder and slavery.

Brilliant expose of hidden history
Revisado: 01-29-22
Annie Jacobsen is a great writer and a brilliant narrator with a recognisable voice and cadence.
The books takes a lot of hidden and lost information and crafts it into a brilliant story and narrative.
The crossover between the Nazi wars and immediately afterwards is fascinating.
With a growing and threatening USSR at the time, I can’t say I wouldn’t have at least considered all of this. Just a great book.

After a lifetime of research and debate on Australian and international history, Geoffrey Blainey is well-placed to introduce us to the people who have played a part and to guide us through the events which have created the Australian identity: the mania for spectator sport, the suspicion of the tall poppy, the rivalries of Catholic and Protestant, Sydney and Melbourne, new and old homelands, the conflicts of war abroad and race at home, the importance of technology, the recognition of our Aboriginal past and Native Title.

We’ve forgotten where we are from
Revisado: 11-09-21
This is well written, well narrated, and entertaining. This information used to be a art of daily life. Now nobody knows any of it. This is a great overview of many parts of our history we either gloss over or have never known.

Historia
The Greek myths are amongst the greatest stories ever told, passed down through millennia and inspiring writers and artists as varied as Shakespeare, Michelangelo, James Joyce and Walt Disney. They are embedded deeply in the traditions, tales and cultural DNA of the West. You'll fall in love with Zeus, marvel at the birth of Athena, wince at Cronus and Gaia's revenge on Ouranos, weep with King Midas and hunt with the beautiful and ferocious Artemis.

Stephen Fry has written a fantastic lens to view the Greek myths. By laying out the timeline and injecting humour and humanity - these stories leapt to life in my imagination.

Brilliant translation into audio
Revisado: 07-18-20
i am only on chapter 6 right now. however, it is a fantastic adaptation of a great comic book series.
The performance is masterful and unique. It's not an audio book, it's theatre. The 24 hour diner is as terrifying in audio as it was on the page. I will finish this in a day or so.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

i dont listen to nuch fictiin and Sci fi can easily go off the rails. This book, however, worked very well. they didnt try to jam too much into it, surrounded the Sci-fi elements with a good story, and delivered it with an excellent narrator. I really enjoyed it.

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

Historia
Ever since the release of her seminal first book, Sexual Personae, Camille Paglia has remained one of feminism's most outspoken, independent, and searingly intelligent voices. Now, for the first time, her best essays on the subject are gathered together in one concise volume. At once illuminating, witty, and inspiring, these essays are essential listening that affirm the power of men and women and what we can accomplish together.

One of the best I've bought
Revisado: 09-17-17
Paglia delivers a tour de force in this reading of her latest book. Her emphasis and intonation of her past essays and articles add life to the written word.
Unable to contain herself she frequently seems to ad lib in order to explain certain points and to discuss events along the evolution of feminism in particular. These were the highlights of book for me.
Her thoughts on art had me mesmerised.
I enjoyed this audio book far more than most I've heard and would recommend it to anyone wishing to challenge their own thinking or enrich their knowledge of modern social gender phenomena.

A brilliant warning to Americans flirting with European ideals
Revisado: 03-16-16
Daniel Hannan is among one of the worlds most refreshing conservative voices.
This book is a well written and timely warning to Americans about the dangers of seeing themselves as "just another country".
A fantastic, honest and intellectual appraisal of US exceptionalism, it's democratic roots, and the extraordinary peril of losing it.
This could not come at a more important moment in history.
Thanks Daniel, I enjoyed it the first time I heard it also.
