Historia
Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

Great information on sleep and health.
Revisado: 09-19-23
This book contained very useful and helpful information on sleep and how it relates to health, happiness, and general well being. It made me appreciate how most of us woefully undervalue the restorative power of sleep. Because of this information I will make it a priority to sleep at least 7-8 hours per night, every night so that I may be a better, more functional human being.

Historia
Jonathan Haidt skillfully combines two genres-philosophical wisdom and scientific research-delighting the listener with surprising insights. He explains, for example, why we have such difficulty controlling ourselves and sticking to our plans; why no achievement brings lasting happiness, yet a few changes in your life can have profound effects, and why even confirmed atheists experience spiritual elevation.

What will you do with your 30,000 days?
Revisado: 03-13-22
I highly recommend reading this book. I’m this book Bill Nye shared some of his life experiences and lays out a case for honest, well thought out solutions to our current worlds problems. While some may not agree with the feasibility of some of the proposed solutions. The ideas put forth in this book are a great exercise in critical thinking on ways that we can improve our own lives and that of the planet of which we inhabit.

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

Historia
If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves - and the world - for the better.

Historia
Theodore Roosevelt began this 1899 speech with his thesis: “I wish to preach, not the doctrine of ignoble ease, but the doctrine of the strenuous life.” He discusses how the many hardships of his life shaped him for the better. Roosevelt believed that if Americans wished to succeed in the world, they would need to embrace the virtue of hard work. He applied this same belief to foreign affairs, stating that America must establish itself as a powerful military force and exert this power when necessary.

This is one of my favorite speeches in history. I give the speaker much credit in nailing the delivery of it! He definitely gave the strenuous speech and did not shrink to timidity. :)

A book every voter should read!
Revisado: 09-16-20
This book teaches us to use our critical thinking over blind faith or Patriotism. It is a short listen, but is absolutely necessary to absorb today, as it was during the post war years of when it was written. Don’t be the typical sheep or a dumb horse. Instead, read this book, use your head, and be aware of what is actually going on in the world!
