Historia
On a hot August night, Lt. Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke, speed through the streets of Manhattan to the Down and Dirty club, where a joyful, boisterous pre-wedding girls’ night out has turned into a murder scene. One of the brides lies in a pool of blood, garroted in a private room where she was preparing a surprise for her fiancée—two scrimped and saved-for tickets to Hawaii. Despite the dozens of people present, useful witnesses are hard to come by. It all brings back some bad memories for Eve.

The Saga Continues
Revisado: 09-06-24
If you’ve never read an “In Death” novel, you can enjoy the story. If, like me, you’ve read them all, you’ll really enjoy this novel. Dallas and Peabody solving a murder always happens in this series. How they get there keeps me interested. Returning to this world and its inhabitants is like going home and catching up with old friends. The characters and storyline remain internally consistent. This is a future world I’d like to live in. This story focuses on friendship and Dallas’s unique perspective. We see Roarke in a rare, vulnerable moment and revisit one of my favorite characters, Crack. I have a vast audible library. Susan Ericksen is my favorite narrator. She does not disappoint here.

Historia
As they do each June, the Foxes have driven the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smell of pine. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb. Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. And though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened.

I Love a Strong Female Character
Revisado: 05-30-24
Recently, I’ve noticed female lead characters have to have some major flaw that requires them to be dependent on the lead male characters. Not so in this story. This is vintage Nora Roberts. It’s well written, character development is solid, familial and romantic relationships are solidly based in love and mutual respect. Conflict and suspense are consequences of story and character development, not some out of the blue, artificial contrivance. The narrator brings each character to life. As much as I enjoy the trilogies, it’s great that have a stand alone novel.

A new series to love
Revisado: 03-27-24
As a fan of the Michael Bennett, NYPD Red, and Private series, I wasn’t sure I wanted to start another. This could well become my favorite. The characters invite you into their lives and mysteries. The cases are interesting Though I could predict the outcome of a couple, I very much enjoyed “seeing” these detectives get there. The narration is excellent. Each voice fit the character and I always knew who was speaking. If you enjoy getting to new people ( some of my best friends are fictional characters), if you enjoy crime drama and a little romance, this first book in a series is for you.

Orphan X is evolving
Revisado: 02-24-24
This is another excellent book in the series. The continuing character of Evan, primary characters and their relationships continue to evolve in interesting, well written ways. My only negative comment relates to the action sequence near the beginning of the story. Without giving to much spoiler information, Evan has to evade several pursuers. The chase or chases seem to go on and on in a manner reminiscent of bad car chases in action films. I get having Evan distracted as his emotions and relationships impinge on his usual detachment. But, this sequence of events seems bumbling for our operative. There was also too much forecasting of the gun supply arc. It made the final scene somewhat anticlimactic. Overall, it’s another great Orphan X story.

Redundant
Revisado: 12-30-23
The story was good. Unfortunately, the same dithering over the same concerns took up at least a third of the book. How many times can an otherwise smart, insightful character obsess over the same mistaken idea in one story? Then you add two more characters doing the same thing. The protagonists became annoying and I wanted to skip to the end. It was a miss for me. The same basic story with some editing would be enjoyable.

A family reunion
Revisado: 11-19-23
This story brings together chosen family. Each character we’ve gotten to know so well shines for a moment. They do what they are known for in an amazingly consistent manner, yet demonstrate the human traits of vulnerability and genuine care for another we see throughout the series. This book can be read as a stand alone, but the depth and humor would be missed if the reader isn’t familiar with the cast.

The Dark Series is Back!
Revisado: 10-07-23
This book takes us back to original story line. There is the requisite romance, danger, and battle. The Carpathians are dark, brooding, and powerful. Their need for their life mates adds vulnerability. The lifemate in this story continues the thread of strong, capable females with important tasks of their own. The additional focus on human family adds depth and interest to this story.

A little light
Revisado: 07-29-23
I enjoy this series. This story lacked the intensity and complexity of earlier stories. The focus more on the Bennett family was interesting Without a more compelling police drama, it was just a pleasant read. The narration was consistent with the quality in the rest of the stories. It was well done.

The best if the three
Revisado: 07-22-23
This was an intriguing series. The subject seemed troublesome, but it’s part of our reality. I generally enjoy crime dramas and this was extremely well written. The lead characters are multifaceted, the plot line believable without being predictable and the supporting characters added depth to the story.
