Immersive and chilling
Revisado: 04-19-25
I actually threw in a hoodie as I listened, the temperature seemed to lower as I progressed through the story. Voice actors, tasked with imparting a drama without facial expressions rendered a masterpiece on an audio canvas. My own imagination became all too able to paint the environments visited in the story. Cheers to All

England, 1914. The world is at war. Captain Hastings, injured and shaken, is invited to Styles Court to recover. It’s a grand old country house - the family home of his old friend - and a perfect haven. Or so it seems. But in the blistering summer heat, trouble is afoot. Simmering tensions are tearing the family apart, and it all comes to a head in the most horrifying way.

Another great who-done-it
Revisado: 12-01-24
This medium is so immersive and allows you to imagine the action, scenery and facial expressions. The acting was excellent and there were no misunderstandings because you couldn’t their faces.
Would love to see Peter Dinklage as a detective.

Revisado: 06-14-22
Wow! What a gripping story! If there was ever an example of an “audible-page-turner”, this was it. How I wish Josh Wedon could make a Firefly movie using this story. It was so rich with description, i could feel the desert heat, hear the gunfire, my heartbeat racing as the Reavers drew nearer. Lovegrove knows the Firefly characters inside and out. He weaves a tapestry that puts us all on the deck of Serenity, facing all the triumphs and perils with Captain Mal and the crew. If you didn’t know or love Firefly before, or are a Browncoat from the Earth that was, buckle up! You’re in for a wild ride.

Historia
A thousand years have passed since a dragon has been seen in the world. Science and technology have replaced magic, which has dwindled until it has become little more than an element of myth and legend. There are those who still have dragon blood flowing through their veins, distant descendants of the mighty creatures of old. These rare humans have the power to cast magic, the power to heal, and the power to craft alchemical weapons capable of starting wars...or ending them.

There’s absolutely nothing negative to be said
Revisado: 06-12-22
The story is well thought out, and very fun to listen to. I’ve seen a few negative reviews and cannot, for the life of me understand it. Is this author going to unseat JRR Tolkien or Isaac Asimov from the pedestal of SciFi Fantasy authors? Probably not, but Ms. Buroker Is it gifted and talented writer with the ability to allow us to draw in our own minds the world she creates. I for one was thoroughly entertained and deeply invested before the end of the third book. Give it a chance, I don’t think you’ll ever be disappointed.

You can’t take the sky from me…
Revisado: 04-28-22
I was among tens, maybe hundreds of thousands who deeply mourned the canceling of Firefly. Whether you ever saw a single episode or watched the incredible movie, Serenity, you’re in for a treat.
These books are truly amazing. They are very entertaining and the reader seems to capture the characters to the point of channeling their spirits.
I have read (listened to) several in this series, and each book has delighted me with its ability to pull me back into the bridge with Mal, Zoe, Wash, Jane, Kaley, River and Dr. Simon. Through these books you’ll continue flying, taking on jobs, “Don’t much matter what they are.” These stories are the most wonderful form of escape. Turn it on, and escape to the outer rim of the ‘verse.

Historia
Magnus "Steps" Craig is part of the elite three-man Special Tracking Unit of the FBI. Called in on special cases where his skills are particularly needed, he works as a tracker. The media dubs him "The Human Bloodhound", since Steps is renowned for his incredible ability to find and follow trails over any surface better than anyone else. But there's a secret to his success. Steps has a special ability - a kind of synesthesia - where he can see the "essence" of a person, something he calls "shine", on everything they've touched.

His Shine shines brilliantly
Revisado: 01-19-21
Spencer Kope writes directly to his readers. In this case, we are able to hear his story come to life through a brilliant and well performed reading. The story it’s fascinating and I found myself searching for any opportunity to listen even for a few moments. This is audible version of not being able to put a book down. There is intermittent, Almost playful good humor that breaks the tension. I found myself truly liking the characters and feeling your struggles. The fact that Mr. Kope chose to set his amazing story in the Pacific Northwest, my home, was an added treat. I’ve already ordered the rest in the series and look forward to solving more crimes with Magnus.

Historia
Here are the thrills, grandeur, and unabashed fun of the Greek myths, stylishly retold by Stephen Fry. The legendary writer, actor, and comedian breathes life into ancient tales, from Pandora's box to Prometheus's fire, and transforms the adventures of Zeus and the Olympians into emotionally resonant and deeply funny stories, without losing any of their original wonder. Learned notes from the author offer rich cultural context. This volume is a doorway into a captivating world.

A man and a story for all seasons and all peoples
Revisado: 01-20-20
I’m am not a classically educated man but have sought to make learning my life’s pursuit. Greek mythology has never come so alive, understandable, and enjoyable till I purchased Mythos. Stephen Fry has long been a favorite comedian of mine back from the days partnered with Hugh Laurie. His voice is melodic and his performance is engaging. I have never been so anxious to engage my audio book for the next chapter, or been so disappointed to see it end. Bravo!

Timeless education!
Revisado: 11-25-16
I have been reading or listening to this book for over 30 years. I re-read it at least twice a year to stay in tune with my behavior and attitude.
This book should be required reading beginning in middle school. While the stories may seem very dated, they are nonetheless applicable to us in this modern era. There is no substitute for honesty, character or sincerity. This ageless tome teaches one never to be false or manipulative, but rather to be friend rather than a salesman.
I will never stop studying this textbook on human relations as I learn something new each time. I give this book as gifts to my friends and family
