I have been a business post secondary educator for over two decades, and if I could leave a legacy, it would be to make Native Philosophy studies MANDATORY for all business programs. Why? Because I was fortunate enough to grow up way back in the country, so I inherently understood our natural connection with Mother Earth AND I 100% believe this is what most of my business students are missing!! They see earth as a resource rather than THE source of all there is to assure our collective well being. Therefore, they go forth mostly seeking to “take without replacing” in the name of profits. If I had the power, environmental studies and intern nature experiences would be part of our curriculum from k-12 and beyond. This book has become as meaningful to me as Blessed Unrest by Paul Hawken. Truly, two works of art that if “lived” would literately save our species.

For those of us, who had the opportunity to experience “village life and traditions” deeply rooted in the experience of living in harmony with “all that is,” this is a refreshing reminder that we must not allow ourselves to be caught up in the mundane. In today’s modern world, growing up simply means getting older hence maturing, hence current “rights of passage simply mean maturing. In reality wisdom is seldom at the forefront of our so called goals and career aspirations … knowledge is, but this is our greatest collective sin. When you can describe a tree, you no longer see the tree. When you can call out the elements of water, you innately forget the power it has to bring forth life. Knowledge as we define it only begets human devolution which we often mistake as progress. I deeply wish that “initiation” was something just as needed or required as breathing, because the modern world only teaches us to survive while initiation would teach us how to live.

Awesome book! Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Have to say I fully enjoyed it!!!!! Story is gripping and please please use headphones, because background and spatial sounds add so much to the atmosphere, which you would otherwise miss if listening through regular speakers. Can’t wait for the sequel!!!!

Not sure how else to state this, but this is definitely a call to arms for every capable human to do its duty in ensuring our survival. Mother Earth does not depend o us at all for its continuity, but we depend on it 1000% even for a single life saving breath we take.

There is no them, that or even this, there is simply us and the sooner we truly see this, the sooner we can begin to save ourselves from our separatist insanity!

Listen to this book so called humanity before it is truly too late!

I’ve listened to this book literately 50 plus times. It is such a deliberate account of our current socio cultural and socio economic state as sentient beings traveling thousands of mph on this mother ship. Honestly, this should be required reading at the secondary and post secondary level. I heard once that earth can easily go on without us as a species in it, but we could not survive a second without her sustenance. Every reason that makes this statement true is found in great detail within the pages of this book.

The author does a superb job at interweaving past, current and future elements underpinning the racially divided struggle. We, who have been pushed to a lesser subclass by the egregious elite, MUST constantly remind ourselves that their class' ONLY power derives from our divisiveness.

Read until your eyes bleed. Educate yourself until your minds bursts. Involve yourselves in the struggle until you realize that your pain is far from your own!

Saddening and enraging, but an absolutely NECESSARY and brilliant piece of work!!!!

Would you listen to Being Taoist again? Why?

An outstanding introduction to "The Natural Way." I've read many other books on the subject, and up to this title, I found them full of information but dull in their delivery. This book, tho it can become somewhat repetitive at times, it does provide you with a solid and illustrative "idea" of what unravelling the true Taoist in you mean.

What did you like best about this story?

It was sometimes too detailed (ongoing without added depth), but the supporting arguments more than made up for this observation(s).

Which scene was your favorite?

The entire book!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Every time the author would make the connection between all things existing in a natural order. We can never see past the choices we make, right? Often the author challenges your current perception regarding the interconnection of the "world" inside and outside us. We are part of the "ebb-n-flow" yet we fail to see the vastness of our reality.

What made the experience of listening to The Five Levels of Attachment the most enjoyable?

It is my opinion, that the most captivating element from this book, was the author's ability to translate complex beliefs into simple perceptions. I truly appreciate how Don Miguel's approach, places in very simple terms, our often unconscious attachments and how these modify our current behaviors.

What about Arthur Morey’s performance did you like?

Given the context and origin of these teachings, there was a certain "flare" that Coyote's voice added to previous books and narrations. I would have loved for this book to have been narrated by Peter as well. Please do not take me wrong, Arthur has a pleasant and engaging voice, but it does not compare to the emotional depth of Peter Coyote's range.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Five Levels of Attachment?

Consciousness!

Any additional comments?

I am quite taken with all of The Ruiz's family works! I highly recommend to any reader seeking to elevate his or her consciousness to the only reality of "what is."
