Who were the sons of God? Who were the Nephilim? Where do angels fit into the supernatural hierarchy? Why did God find it necessary to have the Israelites destroy the populations of entire cities man, woman, and child? What relation does Jesus bear to the rest of the supernatural world? Dr. Michael S. Heiser tackles these questions and many more in his books Supernatural and The Unseen Realm.

Thank you Dr Heiser! you have opened my eyes to a whole world I didn't know even existed, seems like I had been protected from my Bible. 😁

incredible, i wish I had read books like this 20yr
Revisado: 04-30-21
Through books like this, we learn what is is to be truly human, made to be an image of God on earth, to be earthly representatives. I often think of this as in the movie National Treasure, when the main character finds a hidden set of glasses that helped him decipher a decoded message, that's how I feel! i need to go read my Bible again, this time with my New set of glasses and let this beautiful story of a God that loves His creation and it's committed to see it fulfill the purpose of what it was created to be, that refuses to abandone it, or better yet, abandon us.

Historia
In The Day the Revolution Began, N. T. Wright once again challenges commonly held Christian beliefs, as he did in Surprised by Hope. Demonstrating the rigorous intellect and breathtaking knowledge that have long defined his work, Wright argues that Jesus' death on the cross was not only to absolve us of our sins, it was actually the beginning of a revolution commissioning the Christian faithful to a new vocation - a royal priesthood responsible for restoring and reconciling all of God's creation.

For me listening to it once it's not enough.
Revisado: 12-29-20
I find myself trying to disagree but I can't, the story, professor Wright presents, is much more compelling than the truncated version I have been presented in the past and that many of us grew up with.

Historia
Contemporary evangelicals have built a 'salvation culture' but not a 'gospel culture.' Evangelicals have reduced the gospel to the message of personal salvation. This book makes a plea for us to recover the old gospel as that which is still new and still fresh. The book stands on four arguments: that the gospel is defined by the apostles in 1 Corinthians 15 as the completion of the Story of Israel in the saving Story of Jesus; that the gospel is found in the Four Gospels; that the gospel was preached by Jesus; and that the sermons in the Book of Acts are the best example of gospeling in the New Testament.

Remarkable! have changing!
Revisado: 10-17-20
I've been rediscovering the Bible, it's story and meaning, scholars like Scot McKnight are a great help. Having the right understanding of what the Gospel is and what the Jeshua and the apostles were Gospeling is crucial to understanding is meaning and applications.

Historia
For years, Christians have been asking, "If you died tonight, do you know where you would go?" It turns out that many believers have been giving the wrong answer. It is not heaven. Wright outlines the present confusion about a Christian's future hope and shows how it is deeply intertwined with how we live today. Wright asserts that Christianity's most distinctive idea is bodily resurrection, and provides a magisterial defense for a literal resurrection of Jesus. Wright then explores our expectation of "new heavens and a new earth".

Tom Wright is a blessing, his books and lectures
Revisado: 09-27-20
Coming from a traditional Christian background, I struggle to adjust to the understanding that even when the Bible is for me it wasn't written to me. The message of God on the Bible is much more than being saved and going to heaven and thanks to teachers like Mr wright, that incomplete view that I received is being transformed and is becoming clearer.

Historia
Jesus was a skilled storyteller and perceptive teacher who used parables from everyday life to effectively convey his message and meaning. Life in first-century Palestine was very different from our world today, and many traditional interpretations of Jesus' stories ignore this disparity and have often allowed anti-Semitism and misogyny to color their perspectives. In this wise, entertaining, and educational book, Amy-Jill Levine offers a fresh, timely reinterpretation of Jesus' narratives.

Great perspective for reading the parables
Revisado: 07-14-20
I'll have to give it a second listen to fully grasp some of the concepts the author teaches, might be the preconception from years of reading the parables without ridding myself of that interpretation.

Historia
The Bible's teaching on God's love, holiness, and sovereignty is often met with questions about human responsibility, suffering, and evil. If God is in control of everything, can we make free choices? If God is good and all-powerful, how can we account for natural disasters and moral atrocities? Answers to these questions are often filled with technical jargon and personal assumptions that don't take into account the full scope of biblical truth.

Historia
Many Christians believe the only way to fight sin is to grit our teeth, strengthen our resolve, and rise above the onslaught of temptation. But in reality, we have a far better weapon in our struggle with sin than the willpower mantras associated with diet and exercise. This weapon is not saying "no" to sin, but saying "yes" to God. In Rewire Your Heart, David Bowden helps us discover God's plan to overcoming sin by rewiring our desires with the Gospel.
