A gift for all!
Revisado: 01-13-22
Jack and his gentle yet effective (and humorous) way of teaching speaks to me on such a deep level. He is a truly remarkable teacher and I continue to bow down in gratitude for all that he continues to offer. This recording is no different and would be a great resource for beginners but also for more intermediate students such as myself and I imagine for advanced students as well bc we all need reminders/refreshers now and again! Thank you Jack, for everything.

Get ready to heal
Revisado: 09-17-21
This book is for anyone who is ready to heal. And not just their vertigo and tinnitus. The lessons and practices can be used for any symptoms or discomforts you may be experiencing, both physically and emotionally. I’ve already gone through the rock steady program as well as done other neuroplasticity courses, and found them all to be incredibly helpful, but because my journey of healing is a very long one, I’m needing to revisit the teachings in this book, and the audio version in particular is just what I needed to get me back on track and back to healing and rewiring my brain. This book not only guides you towards healing with specific practices and insights, it explains very specifically why your body is producing these symptoms. This is one book I know I’ll 100% listen to again. Thank you Joey for this gift.

Historia

Hit with this devastating barrage, Tig took her grief onstage. Days after receiving her cancer diagnosis, she broke new comedic ground, opening an unvarnished set with the words, "Good evening. Hello. I have cancer. How are you? Hi, how are you? Is everybody having a good time? I have cancer."

Tig goes deep and it’s amazing
Revisado: 06-12-21
This book is narrated in true Tig fashion. Sarcastic and monotonous in a way only Tig can pull off. But there’s also incredible emotional depth beautifully articulated in a way that kept me intrigued in a way I haven’t been in a long time. Tig is an incredible storyteller and while many parts of this book are heartbreaking, you will finish the book feeling hopeful and inspired.

Historia
Pocket Change Collective is a series of small books with big ideas from today's leading activists and artists. In this installment, Beyond the Gender Binary, Alok Vaid-Menon challenges the world to see gender not in black and white, but in full color. Taking from their own experiences as a gender-nonconforming artist, they show us that gender is a malleable and creative form of expression. The only limit is your imagination.

Historia
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

A little narrow...
Revisado: 02-10-21
I like GD. Im pretty new to her work but I follow her on Instagram and like what she seems to stand for. Unlike some reviewers I actually enjoyed her narration. I also found a few nuggets of wisdom that resonated. But I also don’t agree with everything she said (which is ok!). The topics vary, from parenting and marriage/love to race and anxiety/depression, but overall the book is definitely geared towards women, not people as a whole. So as someone who flows between feeling like a woman and feeling gender neutral, who is single without kids, it just felt a little narrow. Since she identifies as a woman and is married to a woman and this book is about HER experience, I get why she writes from that perspective. But it also gives advice that I think could potentially be harmful. Like always take your meds if you’re depressed. I’ve personally battled addiction, an eating disorder, depression and anxiety and have also spent years recovering from a debilitating chronic illness. I don’t take antidepressants and don’t want to. I’ve healed with meditation, mindfulness, neuroplasticity and other natural healing programs. Medication is not the only answer. If you need it, then definitely take it. My mom does and I know how much it helps her. But telling everyone who feels depressed to just go on meds doesn’t feel right to me. I’ve also been on my own spiritual path for years, and I’m used to the wisdom of Pema Chodron, Ram Dass, Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. And their teachings go so deep, so far beyond the day to day. They focus on unconditional love, radical acceptance and compassion, universal truths and being of service in a way that embraces and transcends gender, race, faith, roles, etc. I can see how this book would be helpful to a lot of people, esp women who feel trapped in their roles. But what about men and nonbinary humans who also feel trapped? It just didn’t challenge or inspire me in the way that I’d hoped. But I respect GD and her journey and applaud all she’s overcome and am so thrilled she’s found her way to a more joyful existence. I also sincerely hope those who do resonate with this book come away freer and more joyful as well.

Took me by surprise
Revisado: 01-16-21
I really enjoyed this novel. The storyline, the writing style, the narration. My only issue was that the timeline jumps around a bit making it a little hard to follow at times. But I was still able to connect with the story as a whole and it didn’t detract enough for me to knock off stars. I found the narrator’s tone to be soothing, I just wish the pronunciation was a bit more subtle. Overall, an interesting read that reminds me of Jeannette Walls’ work.

I’m all for a light “read” but....
Revisado: 12-13-19
I love a good romance and I chose this as one of my free monthly Audible originals because I enjoy light, heartwarming stories, but this was just too predictable and the characters were overly stereotypical that I just kept cringing. The premise had promise, but the execution fell short in my opinion. But if you don’t mind extra cheesiness and don’t care too much about depth or originality and just want something to pass the time that doesn’t take any effort to listen to then this would be the book for you.

Although the story isn’t anything I’d consider wildly original, it was still entertaining and the narration was well done.
