Historia
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Slow start but what a finish!

Some parts are a little depressing but that’s real parts of the human experience. The plot twists were unexpected and kept me listening until the last minute.

Historia
Romance can be a little complicated when you get sucked into a wormhole. Just ask high school English teacher June Flint. One little solar flare happens and suddenly you find yourself 85 years in the future. Eighty-five years from your dream job. Your ailing mother whose only companion in this world is you. Your favorite stuffed-crust pizza from DeLucia’s on Sunday nights. But when June’s cell phone inexplicably picks up a signal, she’s able to call back to the present—more specifically, four weeks before she accidentally time traveled.

Cute endearing and a little goofy
Revisado: 08-28-24
The premise is kind of a stretch but the characters are likable and the relationship is fun to listen to. Overall I enjoyed listening to something different. The production quality is great.

One heroic act damned me for eternity. With a name like Tor, I should have been a hero, just like my father and twin. Turns out I’m not. Not even close. Instead I’m the very thing we hunted. A depraved monster. I thought there was no escaping the curse. No hope for a future. And then I met my mate in the unlikeliest of places: Blackwood Asylum. A place for criminals. Power-hungry madmen. Supernatural outcasts. And her, the curvaceous writer who sees ghosts.

Female power forever even to the death of a plot
Revisado: 07-10-24
Too much “men are universally evil” in the plot. Witty wording is what kept me listening. It could have ben better and maintained the tension so that you didn’t predictably know the next move if it wasn’t to male demonizing.

Historia
Alpha Station, orbiting the world of the atevi, has taken aboard 5,000 human refugees from a destroyed station in a distant sector of space. With supplies and housing stretched to the breaking point, it is clear that the refugees must be relocated down to the planet, and soon. But not to the atevi mainland, rather to the territory reserved for humans: the island of Mospheira. Tabini-aiji, the powerful political head of the atevi, tasks his brilliant human diplomat, Bren Cameron, to negotiate with the Mospheiran government.

Superior, sublime narration!
Revisado: 10-26-18
This series is as complex, textured, and nuanced as sci-fi gets! The narrator delivers a subtle and beautiful performance. Every character is separate and distinct. The alien languages are unique and layered. As a lover of language this series appeals to me! None of the characters is flat. Each of them have detailed pasts that have shaped them into the persons they are in this story. The Narrator is the primary reason I have continued listening to this series (a couple of books in the series are a little slower but they set the stage for some of the later books); he does a masterful job!

Historia
The Waverleys have always been a curious family, endowed with peculiar gifts that make them outsiders even in their hometown of Bascom, North Carolina. Even their garden has a reputation, famous for its feisty apple tree that bears prophetic fruit, and its edible flowers, imbued with special powers.
Generations of Waverleys tended this garden. Their history was in the soil. But so were their futures.
Together again in the house they grew up in, the Waverley sisters realize they must deal with their common legacy - if they are ever to feel at home in Bascom - or with each other.

Fun and quirky
Revisado: 08-22-15
This story seems one part Charlaine Harris and one part 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil'. The southern accents are great and the unusual aspects of the story add to the charm.

Plotless
Revisado: 08-19-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I gave this a couple of hours to improve, and it was just one sex scene after another. The plot was the cliche of a damsel in distress and the male characters were even more flat meat-heads.
Would you ever listen to anything by Jacey Conrad and Gia Corona again?
I can tell why she did not write as Molly Harper, this writing is very different. And not in a way that I enjoyed.
Would you be willing to try another one of Natasha Volkov’s performances?
Not likely. Her voice was great with the accents but her diction was stilted, like she was reading the news.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointed that I wasted a credit.

A bit all over the place.
Revisado: 08-12-15
I thoroughly enjoy a great sci fi book but this one came across as self indulgent and petty/ silly. Lots of characters over lots of time including flash backs and it gets a little confusing. Overall I didn't care about the characters, or what happened. The relationship between the main characters is the best part (although a little too much sex for me) but the rest of the story is muddled. It didn't hold my attention. The narrator did well with what he was given, his accents were very nice. Not worth a credit in my opinion.

Revisado: 07-28-15
The narration was incredible. The story was interesting but not the best I've ever read. Intriguing plot, but seemed a little too fantastical at some points. I like fantasy and Luke Daniels is my favorite narrator but this guys voice is pretty amazing. I will be buying more of his books!
