Historia
The Iliad is one of the two great epics of Homer, and is typically described as one of the greatest war stories of all time, but to say the Iliad is a war story does not begin to describe the emotional sweep of its action and characters: Achilles, Helen, Hector, and other heroes of Greek myth and history in the tenth and final year of the Greek siege of Troy.

Used Roman names.

Why on earth did this translation use the Roman names for the Greek gods when this is a Greek story? Juno and Saturn are the Roman names for Zues and Hera.

Historia
In 1893, Liliuokalani, the Queen of Hawaii, was deposed and five years later her nation became an incorporated territory of the United States. Published shortly after these momentous events, her book Hawaii's Story by Hawaii's Queen is an incredibly personal history of the islands that she was born to rule. Liliuokalani covers from her birth in 1838 through the reigns of her forebears to her own turbulent time as Queen of the Hawaiian Islands.

Dry but eye opening
Revisado: 03-06-23
As someone who never learned the history of Hawaii become part of USA, I found this book fascinating. Will I read it again? No. Very dry. But it does have me wanting to learn more about the wrongs of my nation to this nation.

Historia
By understanding the dramatic story of the Ottoman Empire - from its early years as a collection of raiders and conquerors to its undeniable power in the 15th and 16th centuries to its catastrophic collapse in the wreckage of the First World War - one can better grasp the current complexities of the Middle East. Befitting a story of such epic scope and grandeur, every lecture is a treasure trove of historical insights into the people, events, themes, and locales responsible for shaping the story of this often-overlooked empire.

I have listened to a few of these lectures and like most of them. This person needs to pull his thoughts together more.
