Historia
The Earth is changing. The alien invasion brought social upheaval, advanced technology, and an armada of peacekeeping robots. But Alan, a college student pursuing a now-useless degree, cares little about all of this. He has only one thing on his mind: the Game. A fully immersive virtual reality, the Game appears to be a major part of the invading civilization. Alan can't wait to play, recklessly diving into the digital universe. Soon though, Alan realizes the Game is anything but simple, and the stakes are higher than he ever imagined.

Ready Player One meets Mass Effect.
Revisado: 04-25-17
This book is a perfect adventure RPG story line. The author does a great job of world building. The world feels like it has a well thought out history. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment.

Big improvement over Meta
Revisado: 08-19-16
I am so glad they brought in Kirby Heyborne. The worst part of the first book was the narration. The story is also improved in this book. There is a much more reasonable narrative. I like the whole batman mentoring superman feel between Midnight and Omni. The issues with the story came from Tom breaking all the rules he set down in the first book, the lazy plot device of battery life on the meta bands, and how disappointing the prison was. Don't set something up as badass and then have it just fall into chaos at the first bit of trouble. This book was better than the first but still has room to improve.

Not the Best Book About Superpowers But Ok
Revisado: 08-15-16
I had three problems with this book.
1. The Tom Reynolds should not have narrated this book. His performance was boring and his voices were silly. Not the worst narrator ever but the book would be improved if someone better voiced it.
2. Weak diologe There is a pharagraph of innermonologe between every phrase that they conversations never seem to get a rythem going.
3. Spends more time world building than actually telling the story. for a book that 6 hours not I felt like most of the time was spent world building and establishing the rules of how the meta powers work which would be fine but the book just ends as soon as you start getting some explaination. The main character just stumbles his way thorough the plot.
Overall It was an ok take on the superhero genre but there are book that have done it better. I would recomend Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson over this book. If you have already read that and are look for more this won't completely scratch that itch but it is good enough to keep you entertained on a rainy day. I will probably continue the story but I am hoping Tom made some improvements on the second book. It is a few hours longer and won't have to set up as much back story so I am hopeful.

Wonderful World Building
Revisado: 08-08-16
I really enjoyed the world and economy that this book brings you into. It handled complex ideas without being preachy or overly philosophical. Many other books try and tackle the idea of a Corporate State and immediately make the corporations the villain. This book places you in a world of competing ideology and don't try and push any belief down your throat. It also blended the mix of fantasy and science well. I would read a history book for this land in a heartbeat.
The story for some of the characters is a bit predictable but still very enjoyable. The book does suffer from too many similar characters. I don't know if it was the narrator or the early chapters but the book picks up quickly after everyone is introduced. I loved Anthony Ryan's Raven's Shadow Saga and I believe I will enjoy this series as well.

Historia
Niall Ferguson follows the money to tell the human story behind the evolution of finance, from its origins in ancient Mesopotamia to the latest upheavals on what he calls Planet Finance. Bread, cash, dosh, dough, loot, lucre, moolah, readies, the wherewithal: Call it what you like, it matters. To Christians, love of it is the root of all evil. To generals, it's the sinews of war. To revolutionaries, it's the chains of labor. Niall Ferguson shows that finance is in fact the foundation of human progress.

Fascinating but a slow start
Revisado: 05-22-15
A good history of finance. The author does a good job of using unique stories to demonstrate his overarching theme of how financial cycles have played out across history. The book starts slow and is a bit technical for an audio book. However the pace picks up as he approaches 2008. The book is only improved by hindsight and I wish he could add another chapter to cover the last 7years.
