Historia
In a town in the south of France in the 1960s, a dazzling encounter with Love itself changes the life of infant orphan Marie-Jeanne forever. As a girl, Marie-Jeanne realizes that she can see the marks Love has left on the people around her—tiny glowing lights on the faces and hands that shimmer more brightly when the one meant for them is near. Before long, Marie-Jeanne is playing matchmaker, bringing true loves together in her village. As she grows up, Marie-Jeanne helps her foster father begin a mobile library that travels throughout the many small mountain towns in the region of Nyons.

Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

Historia
Among the most celebrated and beloved novels of 2021, Anthony Doerr’s gorgeous third novel is a triumph of imagination and compassion, a soaring story about children on the cusp of adulthood in worlds in peril, who find resilience, hope—and a book. In Cloud Cuckoo Land, Doerr has created a magnificent tapestry of times and places that reflects our vast interconnectedness—with other species, with each other, with those who lived before us, and with those who will be here after we’re gone.

If you love stories!
Revisado: 03-13-22
I love stories and know how important the metaphors and messages in stories can sustain, motivate, inspire me. This is a story about several people, and how they are connected to each other by one fantastical tale. By the end of the book I was crying my heart out! What a beautiful, hopeful story.

Historia
Mateo Garcia and his younger sister, Sophie, have been taught to fear one word for as long as they can remember: deportation. Over the past few years, however, the fear that their undocumented immigrant parents could be sent back to Mexico has started to fade. Ma and Pa have been in the United States for so long, they have American-born children, and they're hard workers and good neighbors. When Mateo returns from school one day to find that his parents have been taken by ICE, he realizes that his family's worst nightmare has become a reality.

Moving story!
Revisado: 12-11-21
This story, full of family love, friendships and heartbreak really kept me listening. I cared about the well-developed characters and wanted to know how their story would end. I love how it dealt with themes of immigration, but also of friendship and the commitments we make to one another, and there was also a bit about teen romance. I liked how the main character Mateo, a Mexican-American, was best friends with a Korean and an Anglo. All the characters were cast in positive, complex roles.
