Historia
A millennium into the future two advancements have altered the course of human history: the colonization of the galaxy and the creation of the positronic brain. Isaac Asimov's Robot novels chronicle the unlikely partnership between a New York City detective and a humanoid robot who must learn to work together. Like most people left behind on an over-populated Earth, New York City police detective Elijah Baley had little love for either the arrogant Spacers or their robotic companions.

I love mysteries and this was great! It was light and easy to listen to. Had a sci-fi twist and just nailed so much of society, even for today. Addicting and worth more than one listen!

While I made it through, I’m not sure I enjoyed this one. It drags on and on at times. If you like Dirk Gently, you’ll probably like this.

Listen to this even if you love the movie
Revisado: 05-18-20
I love the Disney film inspired by this book, but they are definitely two different works. In all honesty, Disney did Haley Mills a disservice when they chose to veer away from the original text. Nikki is not a “Summer Magic” type, rather more of the “That Darn Cat” heroine Mills was later able to embrace. Overall, great listen!

Georgie, or Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is busy planning her upcoming nuptials to Darcy O'Mara. Unfortunately, what has started as a simple wedding has become quite a royal headache and grand affair, thanks to a guest list that includes the queen and the appointment of princesses as Georgie's bridesmaids. “If only Darcy and I had eloped!” she thinks, as she attempts to organize her wedding and find a place for her and her husband-to-be to live. Just as she despairs of ever finding a home, her godfather offers his fully staffed country estate. But something sinister is afoot....

Narrator great for first time out; story not so much
Revisado: 02-04-19
I have to agree with the bulk of the other reviewers, this was nothing favorite tale in the series. We’ve waited so long for Georgie and Darcy to get married, but it seemed so belittled. The story just dragged on and on. I liked the boldness Georgie displayed throughout, but overall, just wasn’t into this one.
As for the narrator, she had big shoes to fill and did so successfully. If the stories improve, I’m sure I’ll enjoy listening to another Royal Spyness with her as the voice.

I've really grown to love this series and can't wait for the next one. For the most part, the pace is quite nice. The imagery is just right, which is better than Austen sometimes.

Pleasant Surprise
Revisado: 09-13-15
If this book hadn't been a daily special, I may have missed out on a GREAT listen. I really enjoy Amanda Ronconi's readings of the "Guest House" mystery series and was excited to hear her talents with this as well. While the author gets some Marine-isms incorrect, they are easily overlooked by how great the characters are. I haven't listened to a boo, this fast the whole time I've been with Audible. I recommend this to fans of similar cozy mysteries. Also, February 2016 can't come soon enough for the second book! Congrats to Ms. Ross on her first novel - well done!

Let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. These ominous words, slashed from the pages of a book of Psalms, are the last threat that the darling of London society, Sir Edward Grey, receives from his killer. Watch out - Addiction ahead!
Revisado: 11-12-14
What did you love best about Silent in the Grave?
The story telling and the narration are highly addictive. From the description of the novel you may not be quite sure of what you are in for, but you will be pleasantly surprised by a wonderful blend of mystery and slight romance. The style is remancisant of Austen's "Northanger Abbey", but the skill level is just shy of Christi's "The Secret Adversary". The detail gives you clear visions of the scenes and the plot just quirky enough to hold your attention. While Ms. Raybourn's writing is a great deal of what keeps you on the edge of your seat, Ms. Archer's excellent narration is what will keep you listening. There are many stories that read well on the page, but when put to the ear are just dull because the narration is lacking. This is not the case with this book. Once introduced, you will instantly recognize the many characters throughout the telling, even before their name is spoken.
Again, you have been warned, this book will lead you down a path of pure listening pleasure and story addiction. If you are looking for something a bit cheeky and fun, set in a very different time, give it a whirl. Just remember, depending on the number of credits you have banked, the first story is free...if you become hooked, this could become a costly pleasure. (But it will be worth it!)

Wonderful Diversion
Revisado: 11-09-14
What made the experience of listening to Silent in the Sanctuary the most enjoyable?
I often have to drive for hours on end and this story paired with Ms. Archer's reading are just what I require to take my mind off the tedium. If you enjoy a well paced listen with a touch of romance and mystery, this is recommended. Bravo Ms. Raybourn! I didn't realize this was published by Harlequin and even after listening to the first two books in the Julia Grey series, I am a little surprised these are Harlequin's.
