A great mixture of functional and inspiring
Revisado: 06-27-24
As an avid reader (listener) of books personal development books, I don’t often run into one that makes me think and act in truly new and meaningful ways. That’s why it deserves my 5 stars.

Beyond Common Sense!
Revisado: 05-31-24
I have read over 50 personal finance books over the last two years. I am to the point where I read them not to learn but to stay motivated. I’m always pleasantly surprised when I actually do learn something new. There was about 3 moments in the book where I said “wow, that is unique.”
I think the whole book is worth reading just to get to the last chapter, which I found to be both insightful and motivating. Plus I noticed the further you get into the book, the more Brian’s drawl comes out, which is great.
I also feel morally obligated to give 5 stars to this book because The MoneyGuy Show was the first thing I found when my debt and financial life became unmanageable 2 years ago. Somehow even before some of the better marketed finance channels. I’ve always loved the beyond common sense way they approach problems and they’ve helped me go from nearly six-figures in consumer debt and no investments to nearly six-figures in investments and no consumer debt.

Historia
Household debt is at an all-time high, and every day people—just like you—are feeling more cynical and hopeless about their financial futures. It’s time to stop believing countless lies from a system designed to take your money—lies like student loans are the golden ticket to a good-paying job, car payments are just part of life, and that you need to have a credit card.

Too generic for a Ramsey book
Revisado: 01-21-24
Three stars is not a bad book for me, just an alright book. Besides some weird recording errors in chapter 10 the performance by George was good. I didn’t love the sound effects, but it was at least inventive. I also love reading Ramsey books because they frequently have fun and interesting anecdotes and storytelling, I can’t say that was the way this book was. The information was informative, but at times it felt like reading a textbook or a paper in argumentative writing. I ready an absurd amount of books, particularly on finance, and I read plenty of boring, technical books, so it’s not that. It’s that I expected it to be fun, it was marketed to be fun, and clearly was trying to be fun…it just…wasn’t. I watch every George Kamel YouTube video and very much like his contributions to the Ramsey show, but I think he failed to fully capture what makes him so fun to listen to on those shows. I think he played this book too safe.

Has some hilarious mistakes in the recording
Revisado: 07-14-23
I like the book. It’s dense enough to be meaningful, but playful enough to be entertaining. Unfortunately they didn’t edit the recording super well at times, which to me is quite funny. One of my favorite parts during the beginning half of chapter 2 is when the guy messes up, takes a hydration break, and then starts the paragraph back over.

My Personal Book of The Year
Revisado: 11-07-22
I have read (let’s be honest, listened to) over 60 audio books this year so far, and I didn’t realize how much I loved this book until my girlfriend pointed out that I’ve quoted the principles in it quite an absurd amount. I’ve now re-listened to it another couple times. I’m a college educated, social science nerd but somehow I found this book to be new, original, and special. Maybe it was the presentation or I really connected with the true experiences or that I can see myself in Dr John, but whatever it was, it changed me in a good way.
