Historia
Rosemary Thorpe has always been a bit different. She has the uncanny and unfortunate ability to foresee people’s deaths, which tends to land her in hot water. Well, not actual hot water—where it lands her is a place between worlds called Fern’s School for Wayward Fae, where Rosemary learns that her powers come from being part fae. At Fern's School, Rosemary meets others who are part fae—including Trym, her banshee roommate whose screams can kill, and Essie, a djinn who grants wishes. But just as Rosemary settles in, a student vanishes in thin air.

I love the world building and mixing it with fae lore.
I felt the setting was a little vague. I listen while driving and it was easy to lose where the characters were. also too short

A Solid Start to a New Series
Revisado: 07-01-24
I'm 2/3 into this title and can say Aleron has thought a lot about his labrynith universe and it's taking an interesting turn. It's set in the near future so some parts of our world are more futuristic but within parameters of what is actually achievable with today's science. I'll admit that it makes the whole book a bit of a strech considering it's stated that people already secretly have powers on earth. Despite this the MC seems to come from a real place with a lot of his own flaws that make me want to see how he overcomes them and make his life his own.
Another note is the power scaling is little off. It's a fun MC is OP story and as such is very enjoyable. It does better than most in this genre in keeping the threat real. Normal people don't even have interfaces though and there isn't much reasoning other than you are born that way and just get cheated by the Chaos Wave. God doesn't just put a hand on the scale he puts his whole dang arm on it.
I would recommend for anyone who enjoys reading gamelit with a strong MC

Historia
When it comes to action and adventure, every hero needs a good sidekick. Holmes has Watson, Batman has Robin, and Daniel has . . . Orrin. More like brothers than friends, they always have each other's backs. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere. Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway.

Historia
The local wolffolk mafia longs for their glory days, and their alluring don, Alessia Lionetti, wants a powerful enforcer to bring them back. That's Vince. This is his big break from his days as a hired thug. Working for the mafia has a short life expectancy, though. Especially in a world where the masquerade shattered long ago. Demons run banks, birdfolk ferry people across town, and the police possess crack teams of sorcerers to keep the peace. Bad news for Vince and his dreams of mafia wealth.

Not bad for Harem Lit
Revisado: 03-04-24
The story with the Mob, different factions, and corruption are interesting. I didn't expect this to be a harem book based on the description but if i looked up the author it would have been more obvious. Men outside the MC don't exist save a couple scenes and references. It sounds like the city has 90% women gender ratio. Even characters that could easily be men for how little they interact with MC are all women. It's alright having a playboy MC that can be enjoyable but make your world make sense dude.

Honest Review
Revisado: 04-13-22
Narration
The narrator did a good job. He was easy to understand and was decent at capturing the character emotions. The character voices did sound very similar and with only 1 narrator and no sound effects I can not give this more than a 4.
Story
The story itself is overhyped. It requires a lot of suspension of disbelief. Human nature would never allow this society to be created or maintained even with the technology presented in the book. The author did a good job of closing the obvious plot holes but he's trying to portray a civilization much more advanced than it is in the book. It shares more traits with a dystopian society than it does with an utopian one. For example society/technology doesn't advance, people have no say in their future, and no realistic constraints have been placed upon reproduction.
Despite this the intended goal of this thought experiment is very flushed out. The author catches the immortal attitude and views of 20 years very well. He presents many theories on how to keep the need for random death somewhat fair and true to life. For example a random plane full of people is executed. Some of the executioners have the same mental issues that comes with dealing with death.
The reason I'm giving this a 4 is due to the lack in common sense. For instance one character commits suicide for fun. If a certain number of people need to die each year Suicide would be the #1 way to get on the dead list. There are many ways to tackle this question that aren't approached in the series because it's trying to force a certain narrative. I still enjoyed it and would recommend it as a good read.

Faced with writing college papers, prepping for tests, and teaching testy witches, Declan O'Carroll has enough on his plate. Not to mention the magical withdrawal of leaving his very own magical kingdom behind on Fairie. But when he and his friends are attacked from creatures out of folklore and fable, it seems the Queens of Summer and Winter aren't done with him yet.
