Idiot MC who just lucks into stuff (plot armor)
Revisado: 02-22-25
It’s not a bad book but I’m over the notion of “I love litrpg, or am a gamer” and continues to do nothing game like that would show a gamer sense. Plot armor keeps him alive and allows him to kill way above while being low leveled. I can see why the jokes might be funny but not really. It’s not very clever and the cliffhanger at the end was expected. At this point trying to play off the tropes of dungeon crawler Carl falls short

Hero complex, too much introspection, plot armor
Revisado: 05-09-24
This book is all over the place. The narrator was great. Overall concept is sound. But the author puts too much emphasis on “close calls” to make it riveting and it ends up falling flat. In fights where he’s underleveled, plot armor saves the day. But in fights where he’s overleveled, somehow the enemy makes it a close fight. There’s also a lot of standing around when stuff is happening. Like seeing an ominous portal or large boss the just stand there and stare waiting for it to power up before moving. It’s frustrating for someone who listens to a lot of litrpg. It makes the MC seem like an idiot. Also it says assassin in title but as soon as he becomes an assassin there’s not much assassining going on. Just fighting head on instead of utilizing the tool kit. The fights are boring and I find myself skipping it, not because of lack of action, but because of the way levels and stats become meaningless. Somehow some way it’s gonna be a close fight everytime.
And lastly, the amount of times someone is about the get “killed” so they “close their eyes and await death….when nothing happens” with a last minute save. Sheesh it’s happened so many times it seems like that’s all the author really likes. It’s really boring. Not even interested in book 2. Shouldn’t have used the credit but couldn’t return it. The other reviews are bots

For a Litrpg/Progression..it’s all over the place
Revisado: 11-29-23
Yeah it’s hard to get into especially for an Antagonist MC. The direction is he’s got a bloodline and there’s foreshadowing of heritage but the meat and bones is, he’s a introvert but not, wants to be a spellcaster but just runs out of mana and spends a majority of the time in melee. Even gets beefed up physical stats and still claims to be a mage. Starts off picking one thing and then discards it for a completely different direction. He’s always in dire straits that it makes the plot armor glaringly obvious that it becomes a lot less entertaining. Narration was good but the spider voice was cringey. I’m a truck driver and listen to a lot of litrpg so hearing screeching voices in the cab of my truck gets annoying fast. I did finish it just so I can give a thorough honest opinion. Not for me sadly

Historia
My life was ordinary, but never boring. That is, until a colossal tower landed smack-dab in the middle of the city. What should have followed was mass panic and hysteria, but I never got to that part. Why? Simple. I was taken along with 99,999 other people from Earth and dropped onto an unknown world. Strange beings appeared before us—floating, featureless figures that call themselves demi-gods. They ruled this place, this fantastical world called Gaea. The reason why they took us? We'd supposedly been selected to show that Earth was worth saving from an upcoming cataclysmic event.

Hero complex
Revisado: 08-19-22
The author has a hero complex and it’s an absolute cringe fest. Everyone that plays games knows that if you’re ahead you push ahead and grind. This book plays on too many tropes about “not being a murderer” but murders anyway. Has to save mankind but only I can do it. Only I’m allowed to sacrifice myself. The antagonist seems to blatantly control people openly and absolutely no one notices. Yeah it was bad but I had to make sure it was all the way bad. Also he only seems to meet the best of the best people for his party. Plot armor for both the protag and antag

Cringey crybaby…Travis Baldree made me buy it
Revisado: 02-20-22
The story is about a guy who’s mom was a warrior and he wanted to but had no talent for it. He whined a lot and plot armor saves him. The real MC is the love interest and he has the ability to be great however he just “wants to belong.” Like the kid who never went to boot camp but wears the uniform and tries to hangout with the big kids. The MC is a cringey character that is constantly being saved, makes completely irrational decisions that somehow gets perceived as heroic but he’s still downtrodden…should’ve listened to the reviews. It’s like the author got picked on in school but tries to write a revenge/vindication novel with predictable stereotypical tropes…don’t waste your time. Travis Baldree is a G tho

The plot never moves..plot armor is super strong.
Revisado: 10-08-21
1st book got me hooked. The story was up my alley of interest. However, this book really is full of fluff. The plot doesn’t move. They constantly mention how he/she (enemy) is way too strong, yet MC kills them like it’s nothing. And the. The following 3 chapters will explain why it was so easy. Example, MC takes a step, because of said step with left foot a hidden puddle was just slippery enough for the enemies weapon to miss MC by inches. Doing so made enemies fall on sword and dead. I found myself skipping whole sections just to get to the point. Too much unnecessary information that did nothing to advance the story.

This book was a chore…..smh
Revisado: 09-03-21
This is nothing but frustration. Imagine an MC that’s whiny and irrational for no reason but is immortal. He’s got plot armor of the highest quality. Like he gets picked on by the bad guys who always have a well thought out, intricate plan and the MC curls up and poof. All the bad guys die. That’s what this book is.
Everyone runs around in circles while the MC lies his ass off and gets away like “are you serious?” But they believe him and plot armor kicks in. I thought he would grow towards the end because it’s a cultivation novel but no….who needs hard work and diligence when you have plot armor. Seriously, permanent stats or temporary buff….I choose buff….and instead of going out to make use of the buff while it’s active…he goes into town and wanders around until he’s locked up. SMH this was rough
Don’t waste your credit unless youre into that helplessness type bs. At least be reasonable. The good guy never kill a life scenario is played out. Somebody takes something from you by force and all you do is curl up and cry…that’s the MC. Plot armor sends a superhero to kill the bad guy and then MC gets +50 all stats because why not …..
Yeah I’m done with this one.

Long winded indeed
Revisado: 02-23-21
Main plot could have been told in 4 hrs maybe 5. But the play-by-play of useless emotions detract a lot from the main story. Author wanted to express emotion but ended up including side characters that don’t matter and a MC that’s turned into a whiny thing. Books like these are always a pain because weirdos like me who need to finish the book to finally say that it thoroughly sucked are left irritated. Everyone seems to withhold information from each other for the “greater good” and it all comes crashing down in the end. Then they wonder how it all went wrong. It’s played out. Plot is generic. The fact that it was cultivation fantasy got me to spend the credit. Man I wish I had it back. Narration was good except on rare occasions his voices gets mixed up when a male and female character are in dialogue. Other than that the narrator did a good job. All in all I probably won’t listen to the next installment.
