Historia
In the last few weeks we have seen the successful accusation and prosecution of parents held criminally liable for violent behavior on the parts of their children during school shootings in the United States. This turn in the judicial process is raising questions all over the country as people ask themselves whether this is true justice or a violation of individual rights. Today we tackle this question head-on and ask ourselves not only what the purpose is, but what the future holds for this significant change in due process. Brilliant discussion!
Revisado: 09-08-24
I’m hooked…I’ve heard and seen Andrew’s shorts and interviews before and was always intrigued. This was my first opportunity to hear you both. I listened with much interest inspired by your discussion. Interestingly, I don’t agree although I understand.
I also have 2 kids who are 30 and 32. I’ve always felt that until they were 18, we were responsible. Now I feel that until they’re 15, parents are responsible.
I look at it almost in the same way that employees are viewed. If you work for a company in the normal commission of your duties, the corporation is liable. For instance in the commission of your duties in the CIA, the CIA is responsible for the results. Good, bad, or indifferent. Why? Because they’re responsible for your selection, training, management and follow up and follow through.
Parents have to take the same responsibility to include providing and forcing counseling, classes, approval and support of friends, activities, watching movies, books, etc…
Hindsight being 20/20, what could we have done better? Monitored their phones, spot checked parties, involvement in their inner circle, at a deeper level, etc….
Many, if not most parents are not good parents, we can call them average or another word is mediocre. They let the kids do what they want because it’s easier and less work. Their phones are not monitored, nothing is verified and of course worst of all they don’t exemplify living life properly.
I once read something about “what a reasonable person would do or expected to do”. In a court case, a “reasonable parent(s) should be required to do what a reasonable employer should do - the basics, fundamentals, the right things.
If an employer did reasonable background checks, training and coaching and management then that’s what should be required. We’d require that, correct?
Same thing pertains with parenting. The foundational reasonable basics. Who else is going to do it from 0 years old to 7? (Commonly accepted thought is their foundation is formed within these years).
I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast and will share it with friends.

I enjoyed this series very much. It held my attention. Long enough to provide details and short enough to get through one on a break or lunch. I appreciate the mix of actors, narration, reality and overall color. Thank you.

The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Unbelievable story with many life lessons.
Revisado: 12-15-18
Although, I’m 64, David Goggins helps me understand that not only have I not accomplished what God has for me, but not only can I do it, but I should. The last few chapters, I listened to on a stationary bike logging in 60 minutes and 22 seconds with intense knee, foot and other assorted pains but knowing that I’m on the road to self-discovery and will come out the other side with peace and understanding. I had a challenging childhood and like David and many others had no control over it. Fifty years have passed and I’m seeing how much it has and continues to affect me. Thank you David and Adam. I’m appreciative of your sharing your story and makes me realize that I have potential.l and even at my age, things are possible. I need to go through the pain and never give up.
