This was a fun & exciting monster story that's a bit on the short side but still a worthwhile read. The narrator was excellent too, making it a 3 or 4/5 star purchase.

You ever read a book so bad you quit the whole author?

The story was predictable but well told and I was here for it all the way up to the end. But painting an obsessed incel who got what he had coming to him as some kind of hero was really unpleasant to swallow..
Having the villain murder a disabled man in his own home & the cop protagonist decide that it's better to frame that man for serial murders than to tell the truth to the public about the police chief being a serial killer who used his position to evade capture??
THAT was an impossible to swallow turd sandwich.

I thought the acting was great, the story was unique & compelling, and whole thing was entertaining overall- like a bite-sized adventure/drama/mystery worth the hour.

The Original Shark Week

While not as thrilling as I'd hoped, the attention to historical detail made for an entertaining read. I was also intrigued by the similarities to the Covid19 pandemic in the responses by the public, press, politicians, and authorities: conspiracy theories, misinformation, "I refuse to live in fear!", & leadership actions taken far too late, to name a few.
I guess people (and sharks) don't really change.

SGJ blows readers away again again

There's nothing quite so exquisitely wonderful as discovering there's a new book available by Stephen Graham Jones!
Whether it's serial killers, werewolves, slasher movies, elk-headed women, or vampires SGJ writes with such obvious admiration & affection for all horror genres that the authenticity on each page can be felt in your bones. Pair with that his ability to describe the most stomach-churningly vivid details in the most poignantly beautiful, nearly effulgent language- like a fatal car crash in HD slow motion- and you can understand why he never disappoints.
This story is no exception, plus it's about vampires.

You Own a Thesaurus, We Get It!

I liked the concept of this book, even though it's been done before, and the narrator did a fine job, but the writing was just too hard to swallow.
It was so flowery and pretentious that it was more of a distraction than enhancement to the book. I felt like I was reading a high school student's AP English paper

Unexpectedly Moving, Completely Wonderful

The synopsis doesn't do this book justice; it's so entertaining & unique, engrossing & beautiful, and utterly unexpected in the very best of ways. 10/10, zero notes, highly recommend..
And if you weren't a fan of folklore before you will be once you are done with Thistlefoot and Thistlefoot is done with you.

Well Worth the Credit

Though sometimes a bit monotonous in it's redundancy, this was an intriguing werewolf horror romp with plenty of gore & enough surprises to keep you hooked.
