Historia
Eve has a good life. She wakes up each day, kisses her husband Nate, and heads off to teach math at the local high school. All is as it should be. Except… Last year, Caseham High was rocked by a scandal involving a student-teacher affair, with one student, Addie, at its center. But Eve knows there is far more to these ugly rumors than meets the eye. Addie can’t be trusted. She lies. She hurts people. She destroys lives. At least, that’s what everyone says. But nobody knows the real Addie. Nobody knows the secrets that could destroy her. And Addie will do anything to keep it quiet…

Same old same old but a bit worse

The performance was good. The story had many moments deserving an eye roll. I'm getting sick and tired of silly females and their inner dialog.

Historia
Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot. Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet. Then the brutal murder of a young woman—the latest in a string of deaths across the coast—confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

Entertaining enoigh
Revisado: 02-03-25
The usual protagonist who's as dumb as a doorknob and does a lot of stupid things "against her better judgement" or chooses to justify weird actions by dumbest excuses.. I found myself rolling my eyes more than just a few times. That being said, the twist was unexpected and not too otp. Voice acting good. Light entertainment, good to listen to while cleaning or jogging.

Historia
A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

What did i just waste hours of my life on? Forced humor, forced dialog....thank thank god it was free. I downloaded because i like Glenn Powell - but then again this is perfect for a larger than life American dude he often plays. Skip.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

An overall entertaining crime novel
Revisado: 12-03-24
Too much of the "inner voice." It annoyed me! And the narrator Lucy is too much like Lauralei from Gilmore Girls with her sometimes OTP HUMOR. Other than that, an overall entertaining book. GOOD NARRATION

Great narration
Revisado: 08-30-24
The characters are well drawn and they are brought to life by great narration. The ending was a disappointment on many levels but I can't go into details as not to give any spoilers. Also, the tying of the loose ends was a bit too neat and unrealistic. But of course a modern novel has to end on a super positive note regardless of how much it may hurt the credibility of the story.

Historia
Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.

Historia
Newly minted doctor Jane McGill is in hell. Not literally, of course. But between her drug addict patients, sleepless nights on call, and battling wits with the sadistic yet charming Sexy Surgeon, Jane can't imagine an afterlife much worse than her first month of medical internship at County Hospital. And then there's the devil herself: Jane's senior resident, Dr. Alyssa Morgan.

Glad the "good doctor" doesn't really exist
Revisado: 04-29-24
Exasperated! That's how I felt listening to this novella. The medical intern must be the stupidest person alive. The attempt to make her into some kind of medical Bridget Jones did not work out. It's impossible to imagine somebody as brainless as her could ever finish high school, let alone get into medical school. And if that is possible, i'm never going to see a doctor. Ever. And the narrator has this annoying, angry, sarcastic way of narrating. I am dumb, too, for having wasted six hours of my life on this. Oh, and the love story? She falls for the biggest a-hole imaginable. Urgh!

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

A Didactic Drivel Full of Unlikable and Unbelievable Characters
Revisado: 01-27-24
Why many readers like this book is a mystery. Whatever happened to SHOW rather than TELL, PONTIFICATE, and PREACH. An infinite number of times I literally yelled at Elizabeth Zoey, our unlikable and unbelievable heroine: "shut up or say something normal rather than a full lesson on female oppression, lack of diversity, denial of ANY differences between sexes. Set in the 1950s and 1960s, the book themes are half a century too late to be relevant. The struggle for equality has been well-documented in both fiction and non-fiction. Nothing fresh and new here. Its obvious didactic purpose (are we in a communist country? ) is to perpetuate the far-left idea that all white men are ruthless brutes, all religious people are greedy sexual predators, all women except our heroine helpless and hapless victims. At the time when we've already had a black president, women in Space, women making it big in business, politics, entertainment: smart and hardworking women, not the whiney, forever-a - victim types. Don't start me on the omniscient dog. It just doesn't work. The child, Mad, reads a book about cannibalism at the age of 4. And we are to applaud to this?! There are a couple of characters whose purpose is to prove this book is not 100% biased. Maybe only 99.9%. Not enough. Let it be known that I am a highly successful university professor, a woman, an immigrant, a feminist, and an atheist. But I DO believe in TRUE diversity, unlike the author who doctored this drivel.

Revisado: 11-11-23
Although, I'm not very religious, I really enjoyed this book. It is not overly preachy. The story is interesting, the characters are complex, and I found myself weeping at times, and reaching for my journal to write certain beautifully turned-out sentences.
