Historia
In The Cadaver King and the Country Dentist, Radley Balko and Tucker Carrington write a true story of Southern Gothic horror - of two innocent men wrongly convicted of vicious crimes and the legally condoned failures that allowed it to happen. Balko and Carrington will shine a light on the institutional and professional failures that allowed this tragic, astonishing story to happen, identify where it may have happened elsewhere, and show how to prevent it from happening again.

riveting
Revisado: 03-12-18
the best part was how the authors put the situation in perspective. framing the story as part of Mississippi s history of racism and using the legal system to uphold and enforce social norms. truth, science, and justice are not priorities

Historia
Kicked out by his father at age 16, English student Luke Corbin's used to trading on his looks and charm to keep a roof over his head until he can make it big as a journalist. He goes for men with money, power, and looks, in that order, and he doesn't let emotions get in the way. But when his lover tells him it's over, Luke finds himself homeless - just as his final exams are looming. Moving in with geeky chemical engineer Russell may be a step down for him, but Luke can't afford to be choosy.

this has always been a favorite. the dynamic between the two MC's is sweet. Both characters are well developed and genuine people. I'd love to listen to Muscling Through on audio.

Historia
Jared Thomas has lived his whole life in the small mountain town of Coda, Colorado. He can't imagine living anywhere else. Unfortunately, the only other gay man in town is twice his age and used to be his teacher, so Jared is resigned to spending his life alone... until Matt Richards walks into his life, that is. Matt has just been hired by the Coda Police Department, and he and Jared immediately become friends. Matt claims he is straight, but for Jared, having a sexy friend like Matt is way too tempting.

Great Story, Poor Narrator
Revisado: 05-08-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Mixed. The story is very moving and romantic. The narrator was so flat that it killed a great deal of the enjoyment. With two male main characters, it is essential that you are able to tell them apart in the narration, but I couldn't. I really would like the the rest of the series on audio, but it is the same narrator, so I think I'm going to pass.
How could the performance have been better?
More inflection, differentiated voices. Better timing. There were no pauses in really important places, like changes from one chapter to the next--though I guess that is the fault of the editor.
