Great allegory

Liked most of the voices except the Forrest Gump and some of the accents.
Otherwise a great story within a story.

Historia
How do you make sure a crime that hasn’t happened yet, never does? That’s the critical question facing Odd Thomas, the young man with a unique ability to commune with restless spirits and help them find justice and peace. But this time, it’s the living who desperately need Odd on their side. Three helpless innocents will be brutally executed unless Odd can intervene in time. Who the potential victims are and where they can be found remain a mystery. The only thing Odd knows for sure is who the killer will be: the homicidal stranger who tried to shoot him dead in a small-town parking lot.

Historia
Toymaker Isaac Bodkins created the Oddkins, a group of living toys, for very special children who face difficulties in life and need true friends. There's Amos, the brave stuffed bear; Skippy, the rabbit who dreams of being a superstar; Butterscotch, the gentle, floppy-eared pup; Burl the elephant; the wise and scholarly Gibbons; and Patch the cat. The Oddkins are given to children to inspire, support, and love them, especially during times of adversity. Only now, the toys themselves are the ones who need help.

This book lays the entire methods and training to produce warriors in the Spartan culture.
The best part is that it’s hidden by a love story and a war story. Such a great book.

History repeats
Revisado: 09-20-22
After watching the debacle in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria we can see the US military, the politicians and the deep state bureaucrats as well as corporate parasites didn’t learn a single lesson.
As a prime example of tactical/strategic blunders and the utter waste of lives I give you the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The great examples of not one single flag officer fired for the loss of life and the killing of civilians by depending on the Taliban is obvious.
The fact of making decorations cheap and ticket punching is highlighted by our own President Biden dragging his son Beau out as a SILVER STAR decorated warrior, who fought while manning a stapler and scotch tape dispenser in the rear with the other JAG officers.
Nothing has changed. Nothing was learned.

Historia
General Stonewall Jackson was like no one anyone had ever seen. In April of 1862 he was merely another Confederate general with only a single battle credential in an army fighting in what seemed to be a losing cause. By middle June he had engineered perhaps the greatest military campaign in American history and was one of the most famous men in the Western World. He had given the Confederate cause what it had recently lacked: hope.

The story is fascinating and paints a picture of our American culture and the men that gave their lives to form the United States.
it also shows the differences in leadership and accountability that used to rule flag/general officers that fought for patriotism and honor instead of retiring to a military industrial board of directors or media gigs lijj my r the clowns in our current military.

In 1969, at the age of twenty-three, Karl Marlantes was dropped into the highland jungle of Vietnam, an inexperienced lieutenant in command of a platoon of forty marines who would live or die by his decisions. Marlantes survived, but like many of his brothers in arms, he has spent the last forty years dealing with his war experience.

Dealing with demons
Revisado: 08-08-21
The Author projects his guilt and coping mechanism to include all Marines that have served in combat.
He conveniently forgets the conduct of the Japanese soldiers during the second world war.
No quarter was given or taken on either side during the conflict with the Marines and Japanese in the Pacific theater.
Hand grenades detonated while surrendering as well as butchering civilian, using prisoners for bayonet drills and even impaling infants made for a great reason that the war deteriorated to a bloody mess.
As for the Russians honoring the German dead, it is laughable. I guess they could start with the prisoners they made lay in the road and covered with water and froze to death for traction on frozen roads.
It’s war. It is evil and there is nothing that can make men “deal” with killing, maiming and destroying another human.
This seems to be part of the big push, that every veteran is damaged and if only the right method can be found to absolve all guilt we can progress to a war without consequences.
I stopped at the third or fourth mention of My Lai. Civilians being butchered by armed forces causes the most casualties in any war. Ask the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi, Syrian, civilians bombed into dust. Insert German, Chinese , Japanese, and Russian by the millions as well to the loss of civilian lives.
