Wonderful!!

Although some of the stories weren't really my thing, I thoroughly enjoyed this from front to back! The second to last story really stood out to me as the most interesting- since i do love a good plot twist - and had some really beautiful poetry.

Historia
The Combahee River Collective, a path-breaking group of radical black feminists, was one of the most important organizations to develop out of the antiracist and women's liberation movements of the 1960s and 70s. In this collection of essays and interviews edited by activist-scholar Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, founding members of the organization and contemporary activists reflect on the legacy of its contributions to black feminism and its impact on today's struggles.

This book really opened my mind and helped me see the beginnings of black feminism in a much clearer light. I feel like this book has only become more important as time has passed.

difficult to enjoy
Revisado: 05-11-22
Because this title has been modernized to appeal to European children, it often sounds more like german folklore than mesoamerican. Specifically its really strange to hear a story told with the prose of European folklore but have mesoamerican names for characters. it makes those names feel really out of place.
While I'm grateful for this collection i do find certain elements to be problematic. Such as the use of the word "savage" in reference to the mesoamerican peoples, and the glorification of "womens work being for women" when thats just not how the society was organized.
