This book is a great and happy surprise. A terrific story, well told, and superbly read. What is more surprising: that superb read is by the author, who is not a professional author nor a professional announcer. You wouldn't know it to hear it. I've recommended this to all my pilot friends because the story will ring true for them, but for non-pilot types as well. The story is very accessible and interesting... about a remarkable airplane, the story of a boy who dreams to fly and his story, and the mystery how this particular aircraft ended its career.

Of the more than 350 Audible books I've listened to, Concorde is in the top ten.

After having reada good book on the Skunk Works, this seemed like it might be interesting. and maybe it would have been had it been a third of its length, the writing better than a corporate project presentation, and the author wasn't so flagrant in his boosterism for this plane.
The performance was okay, given the material, though if be interested in hearing him read a better book.
The book did get some points for providing some information I didn't know before, but I was so glad to be done with this book.

Painfully real and obviously truthful account from a first-person behind-the-scenes player to the lead-up and day-of events of January 6, and her astounding journey to become a voice of conscience in a sociopathic environment.

The title seemed promising, and the idea of another Apollo 13 book tempted me to buy it. However, Fred Haise isn't much of a writer. Lots of sentences that are lacking in style and work poorly together. and a lot of name-dropping. This reads more like a dry test pilot's report; long on facts but short on feeling.
Want an astronaut memoir with feeling and fun? Try "Spaceman" by Mike Massimino (available on Audible).

Of all the audio books I've read, this one is the one that I would say you must read as an audio book. Mike Massimino does a fantastic job of bringing his book to life and reading one of the most inspiring books in Audible's collection... it's that good.

Doesn't even know what TED stands for ..

Am only a few minutes in, but the author has repeated the same error a couple times... he tells us what the acronym TED stands for, but gets it wrong both times. he said it stands for "Technology, Education, and Design," but there's an error. The "E" word is really "Entertainment." May seem trivial, but a book about TED ought to get that right.

I'll admit I was less than impressed by the cover art for this book (judging a book by its cover?), but I opted to purchase this because Ms. Galef had such a good TED talk... and she far exceeds that with "The Scout Mindset."

And I was unsure about her reading her own book -- it doesn't work well for many authors -- but again she surprises with not only an adequate performance but a great reading, nuanced and alive. The only other author-read book that I've read that was done better was Pete Buttigieg's "Shortest Way Home."

I don't know how of the history expressed is accurate or not, but the language and tone of the book seen less scholarly than someone like McCullough. As a result, I'm questioning the veracity of the story in a way I've not done for over 200 other audio books.

Interesting Mars info, needless political talk

Zubrin's short book provides a reasonable outline of Mars mission technical details. That's about half of the book. The other half is a rambling and unloading of his political gripes and opinions. If you can tune that out, it is interesting. I wouldn't want to be cooped up with him on a ship to Mars though.

Going in, I knew nothing about Mayor Pete, so this was a terrific surprise. After having listened to several other candidate memoirs, it was refreshing to hear someone who knows how to *read*: well-paced, nuanced, and whose tone is clear and unfazed.

And the writing... smart and eloquent while still very accessible and relatable.

Some similar books I can't wait to get past them, but this one I was wishing it would keep going.
