If I read a book to the end, then that means it is good. The story was intriguing and became a page turner.I simply couldn't stop reading because I was always wondering what was around the corner.

What starts as a description of boring small town life gradually transforms to become an amusing tale, then a.horror story. The characters are carefully developed, and the dialogue is engaging. The narrator does an excellent job switching voices and personalities.

The Grisham we all loved from the 90's!

What made the experience of listening to Sycamore Row the most enjoyable?
As with all Grisham books, it is so well researched and many truths are intertwined in the storyline. I generally do not like to rehash or review the life of slaves, but this was an excellent story based upon fact. It allows Americans to remember or learn how life used to be for Blacks. But, it is not a black history book. It is simply a story well told. I couldn't put it down.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
As with most books written in America, I knew it would have a good ending, but Grishom really worked to make a surprise ending.
What about Michael Beck’s performance did you like?
Well done.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.

Which scene was your favorite?
The scene where the boys were thrown into the bone pit was so well described that I felt I was there with them. I was holding my breath during the entire scene.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I couldn't put the book down. Unlike most books, there was no way of knowing where the story was going next. From the very beginning, the reader is being pulled along wondering what is going on and where is it leading.

Nancy Farmer has an incredible imagination, and I look forward to reading more of her books.

Where does The Souls of Black Folk rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It is certainly in the top 5. I love "literature" and this surely classifies. It is definitely not a "beach read", because it requires concentration and thought.
Have you listened to any of Richard Allen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but could not because it is chock full of information and the vocabulary is extensive. It requires one to listen and stop in order to take it all in.

Sorry I slept through history class, but this makes up for it.
