Historia
No stranger to fear since meeting the unhuman Inspector Hobbes, Andy Caplet fears getting fired from his reporting job (again). His main concern, though, is a shady property developer who has designs on Sorenchester Common, and more annoyingly on his wife. Perhaps a trip to the mountains will help him relax, but this proves even more perilous with foul weather, inedible food, brigands, and a terrifying cruise. Fortunately, mountain leopards, Yetis and Flossy, the yak, take a shine to Andy.

Historia
Where the Marble Arch stands today in London was once the Tyburn gallows - also known as The Hanging Tree. The walk toward those gallows along Oxford Street and past the Mayfair mansions has a bloody and haunted history as the last trip of the condemned. Some things never change. For both blood and ghosts have returned to those mansions of the super-rich. And it's up to Peter Grant - England's last wizard and the Metropolitan Police's reluctant investigator of all things supernatural - to get to the bottom of the sinister doings.

Amazing narration of an excellent series
Revisado: 12-31-18
Kobna Holbrook-Smith is an incredibly talented narrator. From the slightly papery voice of Peter Grant to his proper and slightly nasally mentor Nightingale, then to the other subtle British and American accents, his dexterity is perfectly matched to this action-packed magic and detective series, where magic is not the star of the story, but is woven into it.

Historia
In a ruined and toxic landscape, a community exists in a giant silo underground, hundreds of stories deep. There, men and women live in a society full of regulations they believe are meant to protect them. Sheriff Holston, who has unwaveringly upheld the silo’s rules for years, unexpectedly breaks the greatest taboo of all: He asks to go outside.

Excellent book, no issue with narration.

I purchased this book despite the reviews about poor narration, and I’m glad I did. Setting the speed to 1.25 helped. An excellent story, cliffhangers galore, and incredible world. I recommend it highly.

Some of my favorite Pratchett characters
Revisado: 04-08-17
I really enjoy the later Terry Pratchett novels from the Discworld serious. Vimes and Vetinari really start to develop and the story plots are complex yet move effortlessly with Terry's great storytelling style. Stephan Briggs' voice characterizations bring the audio versions alive. I prefer Harry King in his later manifestations, where I feel the voice better matches his personality, which is why this isn't five stars all the way through.

Wonderful story for young and old.
Revisado: 05-25-16
OK maybe not so young, as the beginning has a rather dreadful circumstance that sets it into play. My eldest would have enjoyed it my youngest may enjoy it when she's 15. The narration and the prose are some of the best I've heard and read. I look forward to listening and reading more of his work.
