Historia
Meet Lady Toad, Mistress Badger, Miss Water Rat and Mrs Mole as they go about their adventures, messing around on the river, gallivanting in Lady Toad’s shiny new toy and fighting valiantly to save Toad Hall from unruly squatters. In this retelling by Dina Gregory, The Wind in the Willows becomes a story about a group of female animals to be admired for their close sisterhood and fierce independence. Featuring original music and songs by Rosabella Gregory and sound effects captured on location, put your headphones on, sit back and lose yourself in the British countryside.

Not the original story

Loved this update on a classic favorite.
Revisado: 04-01-23
I absolutely loved this re-gendered take on the classic stories. As a young lady I was always a voracious reader and what was missing for me in Wind I the Willows was a character with whom I could relate. I’ve always liked strong females in literature. I was delighted to read this with my 7 year old and compare and contrast the storytelling methods used in each. We agreed that this version felt like it took itself less seriously, and that the characters were more fun (and HAD more fun together). Instant favorite, right along with the original.

Historia
In the fall of 2009, the food world was rocked when Gourmet magazine was abruptly shuttered by its parent company. No one was more stunned by this unexpected turn of events than its beloved editor in chief, Ruth Reichl, who suddenly faced an uncertain professional future. As she struggled to process what had seemed unthinkable, Reichl turned to the one place that had always provided sanctuary. "I did what I always do when I'm confused, lonely, or frightened," she writes. "I disappeared into the kitchen."

A Delightful, Spirited Listen
Revisado: 09-22-16
I loved the print version of this book, and was absolutely floored at how the food came to life through Reichl's narration. Highly recommend, but keep the snacks handy. Listening to Reichl recount the magic of these intensely personal dishes will send you to the pantry in search of a better genre of snack.
