This book really might change my life

I’ve suffered from depression for most of my life but didn’t start taking antidepressants until a few years ago. This book in many ways confirmed what I already believed about antidepressants but also opened my eyes to a world of new possibilities of holistic ways to not just cope with depression but actually overcome it—an idea that at times I’ve despaired of ever being possible. Listening to the author discuss so many scenarios, cutting-edge therapies, social trends, and new theories has filled me with hope that I can one day in the near future live depression-free.
I would recommend this book to anyone who suffers from depression, especially if you think that you’ve heard of, read about, know of, and tried all of the therapies out there. I plan to recommend this book to friends who also suffer from depression. There were so many ideas in Lost Connections that I know that I didn’t absorb them all in the first hearing, so I definitely plan to listen to it again. I’m also going to follow up with the resources mentioned at the end of the book.

Inspiring true story

Touching true story that puts a human face on the AIDS tragedy in Africa through the lives of Nkosi, a Zulu boy born with HIV, And Gail, the white woman who ends up raising him. I was moved by their story and by the way that Wooten wove together details of their lives along with the bigger picture of what was going on politically and in healthcare in South Africa and elsewhere on the African continent.
