A Lite Although Humorous LitRPG
Revisado: 01-09-20
I found this to be a very lite LitRPG in terms of emphasizing things like stats. It was also a bit rough for awhile at first as I found it took some time for the MC to become likable even with his back story as he takes awhile to lighten up but overall I found the different arcs, humor, and changes in direction of the story to be a very enjoyable experience. As remarked in other reviews it does have some pretty funny moments and in my case there were multiple moments when I almost burst out laughing in the middle of a break at work. TJ Clark also does a wonderful job narrating and I am looking forward to future installments of this series.

Fast-paced Sci-Fi Adventure
Revisado: 02-06-19
An original dark science fiction universe with unique in-depth characters that are interesting to learn about with unexpected twists that kept me interested. The author did a great job balancing background information to get you familiar with the universe with what the main character knows, it really set the stage for a plausible sci-fi universe considering what occurred. It has a great mix of fast-paced action and drama that feels relevant and not forced to meet a check box. I am hopeful there will be a sequel to experience more in this universe.

Original Zombie Apocalypse Ideas but Rough
Revisado: 01-30-19
This series has a lot of original seeming takes on the zombie apocalypse by adding mystery and sci-fi elements in it's plot that were great in adding substance to the more predictable aspects of surviving a zombie apocalypse but there were also some parts difficult to keep listing through. Some parts just aren't believable like the negative opinion of the military that is a theme throughout the books. Some character's actions seem counter to the character the author created and the actions they take seem to only be taken to create drama throughout the book that doesn't make sense. The narrator did a great job with male characters, especially in fast pace action scenes, but not as great of a job with female characters throughout much of the book. Overtime I became more interested in the sci-fi elements, which is where the series strength in originality lies, than the characters and their goals.

Zombies From A Different Point of View
Revisado: 01-30-19
The strength of these two novels from Jacqueline Druga is the point views provided from medical professional and military survivors of a zombie apocalypse. If the world stabilized after a zombie virus then its possible that there would be people interested in trying to treat people recently turned if not out of their own interest then that of their families should they ever be infected. At the same time a military or policing effort to clear buildings of those turned would be essential unless we all wanted to simply live with zombies in the house next door waiting for them to break out in time. These books explore where those two themes conflict.

Little do they know their trip that is intended to be a lifetime of memories would include facing insurmountable odds. A More Average Persons Survival Experience
Revisado: 01-20-19
One the things I like the most about book is how a majority of it focuses on the non-military or doomsday preppers, type of people that many people fall into. In many books the protagonists have a lot more cards in their favor when the world falls apart and while those books are exciting it was refreshing getting a more average set of characters. The combination of more average characters and natural disasters utilized to drive the narrative created a much more dramatic survival novel for me. The only criticism I have is in the last act so to speak the author leave out what could have a been almost an entire second novel in reaching the desired conclusion but overall I would say this was a enjoyable disaster novel.

A Lot of Good Information in 4 Hours
Revisado: 01-20-19
In listening to this group of audiobooks I learned a lot about the origin of concurrency, how to use it, how to mine it, common scams and the differences between big name cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. One distinction I learned is how Bitcoin is currency while Ethereum is more a like a currency/digital contract hybrid and they have fascinating background mechanics that allow them to work without middle men like banks and digital pay services. If you have any feeling vagueness or uncertainty when dealing with cryptocurrencies this a great set of audiobooks to learn the mechanics and much of the whose who in terms of cryptocurrency services.

One of the most important breakthroughs in military technology associated with World War I, and certainly the one that continues to capture the public imagination, was the introduction of a war machine that came to dominate the face of land battles throughout most of the 20th century: the tank.

A Brief History of Tanks
Revisado: 01-19-19
Whether your interested in tanks and want to learn about their history, tactics and importance in World War I and II or are just interested in World War I and II this is a great audiobook for both of those interests. This audiobook succinctly covers the origin of tanks, how they changed over World War I and II as well as how tactics changed over that period due to their advantages and disadvantages and how countries sought to use them. I really hope the author has made a similar book that covers after World War II to recent years.

A Fascinating Subject with a Rich History
Revisado: 01-19-19
I’ve always liked learning about the history of different nations but Charles River Editor's book on England’s history does a spectacular job of highlighting the nuances of different eras. Many of the sources we learn about history from today, college courses or TV, glance over many of the details that differ from modern life and the given historical period leaving us with vague imagery of poor and hungry people but there are always many things going in technology, religion, politics, and the intersection of people lives that act like a spark whose impact are barely acknowledged but all adds up to things like the American revolution. I found that this audiobook had a great balance of how single people impact history to how large scale movements and religions were hurricanes of conflict sometimes for the status quo and sometimes change. One the things I enjoyed the most about this book is learning how the concept of England’s military changed from a monarch’s security force to almost a mercenary force and eventually to the modern notion of a professional military that is the standard for many countries today. If your interested in history I definitely recommend this book.

Fun Sci-Fi w/ a Lot of Series Potential
Revisado: 01-14-19
KC Johnston's narration made this a fun science fiction to listen to with his distinct voice acting for each character and Kevin Steverson's writing style in this book is very lighthearted. My only real criticism is a lot seems handed to the main character in many of the situations the main character finds himself in which seems to guarantee him to win the day. To me this seemed to belittle the author's efforts to show the dedication and hard work the main character puts in to succeed when he is creating under dog situations. That aside this book really does make you want to continue with the series to learn if the little mysteries that are sprinkled throughout the book get answered with the main characters future journeys and his fun crew as it grows.

Moving house has become a way of life for 15-year-old Isobel Miller; her father is an army major, her mother a middle-aged, pregnant, chain-smoking alcoholic. But the move to the village of Langham could be the straw that breaks the camel's back. To the truculent teenager it might as well be to Timbuktu. The only light in her miserable existence is her grandfather, storyteller elite, her savior. A Dark Adventure
Revisado: 01-13-19
If I had to describe this series I would say its like a His Dark Materials/Chronicles of Narnia type fantasy series mixed with a large dash of horror. The voice acting by Clive Johnson was great although a bit fast for my taste. Even with that criticism in mind and thinking over the experience I think it added to the macabre horror ambiance. In short, this book is a exceptional macabre fantasy that is very well written and a solid start to a series that sucks you in.
