Historia
In Putin's People, former Moscow correspondent and investigative journalist Catherine Belton tells the untold story of the rise of Vladimir Putin and the small group of KGB men surrounding him. Delving deep into the workings of Putin's Kremlin, Belton accesses key inside players to reveal how Putin replaced the free-wheeling tycoons of the Yeltsin era with a new generation of loyal oligarchs who in turn subverted their country's economy and legal system and expanded its influence in the West.

What a dreary listen
Revisado: 10-29-21
I would have imagined that such lauded book by FT, the economist and the like would’ve been at least an interesting read, but what I got instead was a badly written propaganda puff piece about the boogeyman of old soviet era who are now lurking with iron behind every curtain. To add insult to injury it’s read by a guy I cannot stand, don’t know who the actor is, but I’ve come across his work before and he just doesn’t do it for me. If you’re looking for a good read, look on, because this isn’t it! Disappointing

Historia
Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely travelling further than the pantry of his hobbit-hole in Bag End. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of 13 dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on a journey ‘there and back again’. They have a plot to raid the treasure hoard of Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon....

A journey worth every second
Revisado: 09-16-21
Not only is the book written by an absolute genius, but the way Andy Serkis reads it is absolute magic on tape. I have laughed out loud, I gasped and I dare say shed a tear or two over the adventures of a little hobbit, the once respectable Mr Bilbo Baggins of Bag End. Thank you for this and most of all thank you for the songs that were sang beautifully. I have been there and back again. Now I’m ready to meet Frodo on our way to Mount Doom.

Historia
David Sheff's story is a first: a teenager's addiction from the parent's point of view, a real-time chronicle of the shocking descent into substance abuse and the gradual emergence into hope.
Before meth, Sheff's son, Nic, was a varsity athlete, honor student, and award-winning journalist. After meth, he was a trembling wraith who stole money from his eight-year-old brother and lived on the streets. With haunting candor, Sheff traces the first warning signs, the attempts at rehabilitation, and, at last, the way past addiction. He shows us that, whatever an addict's fate, the rest of the family must care for one another, too, lest they become addicted to addiction.

Impossible to put down
Revisado: 09-01-21
I have been raving about this book for the entire duration of my listening to it. It’s so well written and so fantastically read that it almost soothes the horrifying subject matter. As a father this book snuck up on me on more than one occasion and I found myself staring into blank spaces, my eyes watering, thinking about my beautiful boy and feeling the turmoils of having someone you love like you’ve never loved be in mortal danger. It was impossible to put down and I have been moved beyond words. The performance is an added bonus at this point, but rarely have I heard a book read so well. Listen to it and if you’ve never had a brush with addiction, heed its lessons and wisdom. If you felt what it’s like being addicted or having someone you love succumb to addiction then this book may even give you moments of solace and in both cases deep contemplation. 10/10 on every front
