Historia
London, 1878. One April morning, a small boat bearing a young woman’s corpse floats down the murky waters of the Thames. When the victim is identified as Rose Albert, daughter of a prominent judge, the Scotland Yard director gives the case to Michael Corravan, one of the only senior inspectors remaining after a corruption scandal the previous autumn left the division in ruins. Reluctantly, Corravan abandons his ongoing case, a search for the missing wife of a shipping magnate, handing it over to his young colleague, Mr. Stiles.

Missing something
Revisado: 10-31-22
I like this series a lot...and I know new characters have to be brought in to keep it going, but something failed here. Hoping the next book can bring back the magic mix.

Historia
When Lord Wrexford discovers the body of a gifted inventor in a dark London alley, he promptly alerts the watchman and lets the authorities handle the matter. But Wrexford soon finds himself drawn into the murder investigation when the inventor's widow begs for his assistance, claiming the crime was not a random robbery. It seems her husband's designs for a revolutionary steam-powered engine went missing the night of his death. The plans could be worth a fortune and very dangerous in the wrong hands.

I love a mystery that peaks interest in a topic
Revisado: 08-05-18
Great characters with a mystery that has you looking at everyone to find the guilty party. But what I enjoyed most about this book is how well it provided depth to the personality of Raven. Given time and education, Raven may knock Sherlock off the "greatest detective" podium.

Dr. Greta Helsing has inherited the family's highly specialized and highly peculiar medical practice. She treats the undead for a host of ills - vocal strain in banshees, arthritis in barrow-wights, and entropy in mummies. It's a quiet, supernatural-adjacent life until a sect of murderous monks emerges, killing human and undead Londoners alike. As terror takes hold of the city, Greta must use her unusual skills to stop the cult if she hopes to save her practice - and her life.

Great story but let down by narration
Revisado: 08-01-18
The monsters in this book are manic, blood thirsty and more frightening than the vampires, ghouls and demons you will encounter. Dr Helsing is like many clinic doctors in large cities, trying to help her patients on a shoestring. But now she also has to hunt down a being intent on killing her because of ber practice. this was a great storyline with great characters, however the narrative was confusing due to no changes in inflection or voice throughout the story.

Imagine Miss Marple rocking out to Hard Rock..
Revisado: 07-07-18
Granny Smith was a wild child during the 1960's & 70's. She lived a full life then and sees no reason why reaching her 70's should change that. Amateur super sleuth she may be, but will she be able to juggle her son's unexpected wedding, saving the frog's breeding pond and the finding the killer? This book takes a baseball bat to the traditional portrait of "elderly little old lady sleuths" and repaints them as the aging hippies, flower children and hard rock fans they are today. Enjoyable listen and I look forward to the next one...maybe we'll find out that Granny has a tatoo of a marijuana leaf! I received this audiobook as a promotional copy in exchange for an unbiased review.

Enjoyable take on Christie classic
Revisado: 06-13-18
Christie fans will find many references to her masterpiece "Murder on the Orient Express" but the story stays fresh due to a ghostly twist (or two... maybe three...wait there's four...). great addition to the series which has remained entertaining from the first.

Take a small English village after WW1, add equal shots of Nora Charles, Jane Marple and simmering mysteries, then shake well. Serve.
An enjoyable cozy mystery that proves gin and tea work wonderfully together when it comes to solving murder.

Devout in her dedication for the underdog, Charlie Parker gets drawn into perilous predicaments while sticking her neck out for friends and clients in trouble. She proves a wily opponent for the evil she discovers.

poor narration and recording

Prepare to hear pages flip, voice echo and surrounding studio sounds during the reading. This is the first narration I've heard from this studio and I am not impressed. The sounds prevent the listener from losing themselves in the story.
