They switch readers in the middle of the book. And not just 1 dude to another but from male to female. Complete change. Either give me one or the other.

I loved the way this book was written. It captures the fantasy world within the context of Christianity.

Not necessarily sure this is backed with science.

There are certainly times when corporal punishment is permitted. The author claims that in a violent world, we shouldn't use violence. The world will always be violent, the goal seems to be when is the appropriate time to use violence. All men have the underlying threat of violence when interacting, and all behaviors have consequences. A firm talking to doesnt prepare a child for the unforgiving, violent suffering of life. Neither does pure corporal punishment. But removing one at the perceived preference of the other based on unproven presumptions doesnt seem to be an answer. Some kids need spanked, some dont, some are independent, some codependent, some need wrestling, some need drawing. I'm not convinced that discipline can be mastered by this method alone.
