Historia
Terrorism in Europe has spun out of control. The United States has decided on a dramatic response. Now, the CIA needs a very special kind of operative. Scot Harvath has exactly the skills the CIA is looking for. He's a former U.S. Navy SEAL with extensive experience in espionage. Working for a private intelligence company, he will provide the CIA, and more important, the President, with absolute deniability.

Thor Lays the Hammer Down Again!
Revisado: 06-19-16
I was late to the Scot Harvath series, as I read all of the Mitch Rapp books first, but this series is very entertaining and Brad Thor has really developed Harvath into a great character. Of course, Armand Schulz does another masterful job narrating.

Historia
No college basketball coach has ever dominated the sport like John Wooden. His UCLA teams reached unprecedented heights in the 1960s and '70s, capped by a run of ten NCAA championships in twelve seasons and an eighty-eight-game winning streak, records that stand to this day. Wooden also became a renowned motivational speaker and writer, revered for his "Pyramid of Success." The portrait that emerges from Davis's remarkable biography is of a man in full, whose life story still resonates today.

Historia
Best-selling sportswriter Jeff Pearlman draws from almost 300 interviews to take the first full measure of the Lakers’ epic Showtime era. A dazzling account of one of America’s greatest sports sagas, Showtime is packed with indelible characters, vicious rivalries, and jaw-dropping, behind-the-scenes stories of the players’ decadent Hollywood lifestyles. From the Showtime era’s remarkable rise to its tragic end - marked by Magic Johnson’s 1991 announcement that he had contracted HIV - Showtime is a gripping narrative of sports, celebrity, and 1980s-style excess.

Historia
Pete Rose played baseball with a singular and headfirst abandon that endeared him to fans and peers, even as it riled others--a figure at once magnetic, beloved and polarizing. Rose has more base hits than anyone in history, yet he is not in the Hall of Fame. Twenty-five years ago he was banished from baseball for gambling, then ruled ineligible for Cooperstown; today, the question "Does Pete Rose belong in the Hall of Fame?" has evolved into perhaps the most provocative in sports, a layered, slippery and ever-relevant moral conundrum.

Worth the Gamble (Pun Intended)
Revisado: 03-25-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
A great athlete with a great flaw
What did you like best about this story?
This was a great back story and a great current story of Pete Rose
What didn’t you like about Ben Bartolone’s performance?
It is really grating in books about sports when the narrator mispronounces pretty famous names. For instance, the narrator calls Leo Durocher (correctly pronounced Doo-ro-sher) Doo-Rosh-Shay. It is not french. I don't blame the narrator, I blame the producer. There are numerous mispronunciations of names. Not the first time in a sports book, and certainly won't be the last.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes- It is a quick read.

Historia
A shattered Army veteran and a mischievous party girl, Roger Holder and Cathy Kerkow commandeered Western Airlines Flight 701 as a vague protest against the war. Through a combination of savvy and dumb luck, the couple managed to flee across an ocean with a half-million dollars in ransom, a feat that made them notorious around the globe. Koerner spent four years chronicling this madcap tale, which involves a cast of characters ranging from exiled Black Panthers, to African despots, to French movie stars.

During his storied career as head coach of the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, Phil Jackson won more championships than any coach in the history of professional sports. This is the story of a preacher's kid from North Dakota who grew up to be one of the most innovative leaders of our time. Eleven times, Jackson led his teams to the ultimate goal: the NBA championship - six times with the Chicago Bulls and five times with the Los Angeles Lakers. This book is full of revelations.

What did you love best about Eleven Rings?
The history was great and the stories were fabulous. I really enjoyed the leadership tips from the book
Who was your favorite character and why?
None
How could the performance have been better?
Learn how to pronounce the names. When John Salley was said to be on the Pistons, his name was pronounced "Sa-lee" but was pronounced correctly when he was with the Lakers. Also, in Robert Horry's name, the 'H' is silent. There were other things as well. I fault the producers in this, because it has happened in sports books before.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds.
