In Colorado in the late 1800s, Biders Clump deputy sheriff Ferd Wooster is pursuing the horses criminals stole and finds them at the barn of Constance Jupiter and Major "Abuelo" Howard Jupiter who accidentally purchased them. It is winter, they live outside of Biders Clump, and they have serious influenza. Ferd tries to her them, but they stubbornly try to maintain their current life style. "Abuelo" has been like a parent to Constance since he adopted her after a raid against her kin when he was in the military.
As is a trademark of these Biders Clump stories, residents of Biders Clump we have met before or haven't met before fill the pages. Characters we have met before are sisters Quill, Prissy, and Sara and boarding house owning couple Polly and George. Some characters we haven't met before are Sheriff Pike and Mr. and Mrs. Wooster.

"Bruno's Belligerent Beauty" by Danni Roan and narrated by Greg Young still has the Dixon family and Adams family in the story but focuses on protected woman Janine, her banker father, and Bruno the Shepherd and his horse. Bank robbers steal money from the banker's bank, and bring daughter Janine along as a hostage, so they will not be tailed. Bruno has liked Janine since they were children and goes after her. The bankers get far more than they bargained for from Bruno and Janine. In the meantime, changes occur in the feud between Mr. Dixon and Mrs. Adams and the situation between Rafe Dixon and Sara Adams.

"Quil's Careful Cowboy" is the second of the Bider's Clump stories written by Danni Roan and narrated by Greg Young. The first story, "Christmas Kringle," focused on the youngest Adams daughter Sara and her relationship with Rafe Dixon. This story focuses on the oldest daughter Quil and her relationship with new Adam's ranch hand Cameron Royal. Quil is very good with keeping financial records. Cameron is very good at taking care of the struggling ranch. They make a good team, but is it meant to be in the long term? In the meantime, the youngest daughter Sara tries to hide her hidden relationship with Rafe, and there is a mystery as to the cause of the feud between Mrs. Adams and Mr. Dixon.

"Christmas Kringle" introduces the Adams family, three daughters coming into adulthood and a mother, who live in the town of Biders Clump at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in the mid-1800's and own a ranch. The youngest daughter, Sara, meets a cowhand named Raif Dixon whose father owns his own ranch. Sara and Raif develop feelings for each other, but there is a feud between the heads of the Dixon and Adams family. This makes it difficult for Sara and Raif to maintain their relationship. There is much Christmas spirit and camaraderie of the Adams family in the story.

"The Kiss of the Pachinko Girl" is not necessarily the last book of this series written by Vann Chow and narrated by Greg Young. It follows the further exploits of high-up, middle-aged American businessman in Japan Smith, trying to help the young, mysterious, entangled Misa Hayami. There are a number of mysteries and crimes in the story where perhaps innocent and perhaps not so innocent people collide. The story has an interesting mix of American culture and Japanese Culture in it.

Revisado: 08-02-19

"The Pachinko Girl" is a crime story with some unpleasant scenes and mature subject matter. It is mostly a story in the Japanese business world with some American characters and many Japanese characters. A major Japanese character is young and female. A major to main character is a middle-aged American businessman, Smith, who is a quirky, kind of amusing and pretty honorable character. He cannot help but get caught up in some of the troubles. There are many characters and the reader does a nice job of doing characterizations of each of the characters. The story often comes off as a kind of charming interplay between characters but it is crime story. The reader also does a nice job of doing the Japanese and non-Japanese characters. He also does a nice job of reading Japanese words clearly.

Mahatma Gandhi: His Life and Some of His Inspiring

"Mahatma Gahndi: Nonviolent Liberator," tells the story of Mahatma Ghandi's life from childhood to death and some of his beliefs. The length is not short but not long at three hours. I think the book is informative enough to teach a satisfying amount about Mahatma Gahndi to some readers and not be dry at all. I think it can serve as an introduction for people who are interested in learning more about nonviolence religious interaction, and other ideas Gahndi followed, more about Gahndi's life, and history of India and its region at the time of Gandi. The author, Richard Deats, refers to many authors and writings and people may be interested in reading from these referrals. The biggest focuses are the drive of Gahndi for Indian Independence from Britain and Ghandi's philosophies.
