Great as usual but...
Revisado: 11-18-19
To begin, I'm a big fan of the Joe Ledger series in general and Ray Porter is easily one of the absolute best narrators out there. All in all, this was the usual exciting and fantastic read. I highly recommend it! However, two things:
1. Are you telling me that in all of their production money they couldn't spend a little to find someone to give Ray some pronunciation tips for Korean? Or hell, typed the words into Google Translate and had it give the audio? Because nearly the whole book takes place in or around Korea and I can't even begin to explain how many times I was jarred out of the story by unnecessarily bad pronunciations. They weren't even hard words, just easy ones that were misread and mispronounced. Like Mun. I'm assuming that's how it was spelled in the book, but it's pronounced Moon. Anywho. That was pretty painful but my dedication to the series and to Ray helped me trudge through. Makes me wonder how well he's pronouncing words in languages I don't actually know, though.
2. What even was that ending? It seemed a little bit much to me. Maybe it's setting dear ol' Joe up for something important in the future but it just seemed kind of unnecessary at the moment. I guess we'll see where it goes.

Historia
For Ward “King” Kingston the role of protector, forged by fire and tragedy, is one he takes seriously. When King is asked to safeguard the son of a four-star general and friend, he is pulled back into the world of government black ops on a mission that raises painful memories from his past. The moment King meets Leo, amid the chaos of a lockdown at a secret black site, it’s clear he’s never faced a challenge like this - one that will test his unwavering sense of control.

I don't usually do this but...
Revisado: 05-27-19
I don't even know where to begin. I don't really leave reviews in general, because I feel awkward. I especially don't leave reviews that involve my secret gay romance novel obsession. But here I am! Why, you may ask? Because this series is really, truly wonderful and Charlie Cochet is a fantasticly creative writer. This book in particular, Leo and King, well...they just stole my heart. Leo was written so wonderfully and they each felt tangible they were so well developed. I adore them. i would sell a kidney to get more of them.
And then you have Greg Boudreaux, genius that he is. The Ray Porter of gay romance novels (also, the guy under the mask reads some other great novels, too so check him out!). Every character gets a unique voice that is all their own and that voice remains theirs in every single book in the series. He brings not only each character to life but the entire story, as well. Honestly, I only even picked up the first book because I wanted to read more narrated by him. Actually, most of my library is full of books I chose because or him. And he never disappoints!

Erin Gibson has a singular goal - to create a utopian future where women are recognized as humans. In Feminasty - titled after her nickname on the hit podcast Throwing Shade - she has written a collection of make-you-laugh-until-you-cry essays that expose the hidden rules that make life as a woman unnecessarily hard and deconstructs them in a way that's bold, provocative, and hilarious.

Great Content - Frustrating Delivery
Revisado: 04-04-19
I somehow loved and despised this book. I would press play with both excitement and dread. It was sort of a 'oh, what life changing information will I learn about the world today!' mixed with 'what nails on chalkboard torture method will I be learning it through'.
Basically, there's a ton of great information in this book and the author brings up many great points with a lot of food for thought. But she's also just plain obnoxious near constantly because-- what? It's supposed to be funny? Is it? Because it wasn't. Seriously.
By the end, the content had me wanting to spread this book like a feminist bible. Learn! Learn for the greater good! Get woke! But the delivery keeps me from daring to bring this pain upon some unsuspecting innocent being. They may never trust my recommendations again.
All and all, if you have a ton of patience, have a serious commitment to feminist education or just have a shit ton of driving ahead of you-- go ahead and read it. You'll be a better person by the end, if not only because you learned more about the patriarchy but also because you will have gained the patience of a Tibetan monk.

Historia
More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

That ending...sigh.
Revisado: 05-07-17
Overall. the story was pretty good. Very unique, action packed, kept my interest. I wasn't super hooked like I have been with other books but it's been a busy week so that might not be the book's fault. R.C. Did his thing as usual, much kudos to him. the ending was pretty unsatisfying, though. There's a second book and maybe somehow it'll make up for the ending. Maybe. Otherwise, pretty solid listen.

Historia
She used to work for the US government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning. Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

I Tried:
Revisado: 02-15-17
In high school I read some of the Twilight series, because all of my friends were and I wanted to see what was up. It was awful and I never trusted my friends again on books. The movies too were terrible but aren't they always? Well, anyways. It's been years since then and I've grown a lot as a person and a reader. I assumed Stephanie Meyer had also grown as an author. Apparently some things she just can't let go.
The actual plot was great! The story was fun, unique and exciting. She did her research and gave lots of detail, I really enjoyed it. But! The romance...good God the romance. It felt forced, unexplained, unnecessary, illogical, and eventually was just plain annoying. Finishing this book, because of that, was like chewing glass. Maybe romance that makes sense isn't your thing, if so then go ahead and get this book. If you need a little sense behind your love then keep moving along.
