This book is so ridiculous but keeps you laughing. Definitely not work friendly if you listen to audiobooks while you work.

Cesar D’Angelo was 10 when his father was killed in the mines. Cesar, the oldest boy in his family, had to take his father’s place working for the coal company. His first job was working high up in the dangerous coal breakers. At the age of 12, he went down into the blackish, coal dusted mines to begin his long mining career. great insight into the life of a coal miner
Revisado: 01-18-23
I always heard that my family was from the Coal Region of Pennsylvania but I never really thought to learn more about that way of living. This story wasn't what I thought it was going to be, but the stories that the main character learns is really insightful into the life and lives of my ancestors.

This story really stuck with me, I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery and psychology. I read this book a year or two ago because the name caught my attention and couldn't put it down. I recently recommended it to a friend and had to start it up again.

With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

what an emotional rollercoaster
Revisado: 06-09-22
I love Mr. Cummings movies, so this was quite the adventure to join him on. I like that this audiobook is read by Alan himself, making him relive all of his hard trials through life. You can really hear how hard it was for him and his family. I marvel at his strength, after coming out of the abusive childhood and making his way to become the man he is today. As someone who also suffered abuse in childhood, I just have to say Bravo Alan, I'm so proud of you. You proved him wrong and gained so much in life.

Historia
The year was 1917. As a war raged across the world, young American women flocked to work, painting watches, clocks, and military dials with a special luminous substance made from radium. It was a fun job, lucrative and glamorous - the girls themselves shone brightly in the dark, covered head to toe in the dust from the paint. They were the radium girls. As the years passed, the women began to suffer from mysterious and crippling illnesses.

things they don't teach us in history class
Revisado: 09-15-21
I don't normally learn to historical stories but this one caught by eye. An untold story of the dial painters and the unfair treatment by the companies that they put lives into. Their battles in their workplace and in their homes really opens your eyes to what it was like to live in the 1920's.
