Historia
In this spellbinding blend of memoir and insight, best-selling author Chuck Palahniuk shares stories and generous advice on what makes writing powerful and what makes for powerful writing. With advice grounded in years of careful study and a keenly observed life, Palahniuk combines practical advice and concrete examples from beloved classics, his own books, and a "kitchen-table MFA" culled from an evolving circle of beloved authors and artists, with anecdotes, postcards from the road, and much more.

a stressful, but necessary read
Revisado: 10-10-20
I struggled reading it through is a couple of days, despite how well written it was, only because of the subject matter. It reminded me of another book (the name/author escapes me) that discussed the nature of "bad" behaviors and their relationship to trauma.

Historia
Prince Lyov Nikolayevitch Myshkin is one of the great characters in Russian literature. Is he a saint or just naïve? Is he an idealist or, as many in General Epanchin's society feel, an "idiot"? Certainly his return to St. Petersburg after years in a Swiss clinic has a dramatic effect on the beautiful Aglaia, youngest of the Epanchin daughters, and on the charismatic but willful Nastasya Filippovna. As he paints a vivid picture of Russian society, Dostoyevsky shows how principles conflict with emotions - with tragic results.

A Surprisingly Great Read
Revisado: 08-30-20
I purchased this book 15 years ago to read on the train as I traveled through Europe. I never cracked it open on that trip, and I can't express how grateful I am that I didn't... then.
I don't think I had any real, worldly knowledge to help me get through a book like this back then. I wouldn't say I have tons of it now, but certainly enough to sympathize with nearly every character so deeply created by the author for the reader.
I selected this novel as a challenge to myself. anyone out there doing something similar will know what that means. This is definitely a classic worth the hype. It may come off as slow and classist, but Dostoevsky delivers a set of characters with such great depth that this story would be incomplete without the least of them.
I highly recommend it.

The wait is over. After a two-year investigation, the results of The Mueller Report have been released to the public. Now listen to an audio version of one of the most talked about government documents in history. These are the redacted findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team, which was tasked with investigating Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections, including exploring any links or coordination between President Donald J. Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and the Russian government.

wow.

I don't think reading the full report would make everyone happy with the findings in this report, but I think knowing the facts should make everyone angry about the attack on our (American) electoral system. To hear an unbiased assessment of the facts is to be more informed. If you'd like to know the findings but can't read the report, listen to it.
