The writing is cheesy with a smattering of 25 cent words (tho I will be using “overweening”). The story is unbelievable. I did like the twist at the end which bumped it from 2 to 3 stars for me, but I saw it coming and wish it had gotten there faster. The acting was ok. The characters were flat and unrelatable, partially due to their laughably poor decision-making skills.

A gorgeous story masterfully written

I kept mistakenly thinking of it as a show rather than a book. I’d look forward to watching, ope, I mean listening to more. The writing is descriptive in a way I (a mere mortal) can only describe as awe-inspiring in how uniquely, beautifully clear it is. The performance is phenomenal (still wondering where she’s actually from because she nailed every accent). I don’t know if I’ve ever read something so well written—original, breathtaking, and just glorious.

I wasn’t invested in the characters or the story. The book is less thrilling than its synopsis and less provocative than its reviews—cut to the chase and read those instead.
