I enjoyed this whimsical tale immensely. It is well performed, and I love the horse cloak and the other touches of magic.

Great world building
Revisado: 08-31-24
The story has excellent turns and twists. I think it’s a bit of a cheat though because it is a retelling of the story in book 4, from Casteel ‘s point of view. I think in that is unfair to the reader, as the action is barely forwarded by the end of the book, and I do mean barely. But the end does deliver a nice twist.
The performance-the male voices are terrific. His imitation of women is pretty much ridiculous. I found that distracted me when the “women” spoke.
And the story isn’t finished, with no reference made to when, if ever, it will be.
I could go to the prequel, but I would’ve rather read that first, so, that’s a no for me.
Unfortunate, She’s a good writer, but she’s lost me for at least a while.

Historia
Rufus Leung Gresham, future Earl of Greshambury and son of a former Hong Kong supermodel has a problem: the legendary Gresham Trust has been depleted by decades of profligate spending, and behind all the magazine covers and Instagram stories manors and yachts lies nothing more than a gargantuan mountain of debt. The only solution, put forth by Rufus’s scheming mother, is for Rufus to attend his sister’s wedding at a luxury eco-resort, a veritable who’s-who of sultans, barons, and oligarchs, and seduce a woman with money.

Amusing but not a must read
Revisado: 06-02-24
The Crazy Rich Asians series was fabulous. This, not so much, more like a pale imitation. I object to all the American accents sounding as if the speaker had a tin ear, basically obnoxious. Her British accents were excellent I was however ready to kill Arabella-which is apt as her character was ghastly. One does get a glimpse of why she became so desperate. But take some responsibility! And the voice, like fingernails on a blackboard, which was no doubt the intention.
The plot was fairly predictable, but I did enjoy most of the characters, my criticisms aside. It was amusing, but not a must read.

Revisado: 06-02-24
Perfect performance, as always by Kate Rudd. Good take as far as it went but stopped about 3/4 of the way through, for me. Not worth spending one of my audible credits, even a as much as I like Jeff Wheeler. I know it’s just a “tale” of Muirwood, but it should have a conclusion.

Just constant running and danger-not very compelling. Jeff Wheeler’s other work has had me spellbound. This one , however, has not. I will not continue the series.

Great story. Stellar performance
Revisado: 09-20-23
Lots of intrigue and hair raising action. Excellent performance. I love the take off on the Arthurian legends. Sir Ransom (aka Marshall) is definitely a nod to the first Marshall of England, He was William Marshall, who became 1st Earl of Pembroke, 1146-1219. He served the English kings. A great man and entirely honorable, devoted to his king(s) no matter how impossible they were. Very enjoyable series.

Historia
In the middle of the Great Depression, Montana native Julia Bennett arrived in New York City with no money and an audacious business plan: to identify and visit easterners who could afford to spend their summers at her brand new dude ranch near Ennis, Montana. Julia, a big-game hunter whom friends described as “a clever shot with both rifle and shotgun,” flouted gender conventions to build guest ranches in Montana and Arizona that attracted world-renowned entertainers and artists.

One family’s history in the American West
Revisado: 08-05-23
Overall I enjoyed this book-it’s a little long winded in the beginning, but becomes very interesting as the history moves on to modern day. The early history is interesting though, and describes how difficult life in the West was, and how tough it’s settlers were. And still are to a great degree! Worth a listen for any fan of the American West.

Lame end to a good tale
Revisado: 08-02-23
The first 2 books should be read in the reverse order. This finish to the series was lightweight and kind of annoying. Especially given that I listened to the first two in the order recommended. By the time I listened to the last one, details were distant. Good yarn but disappointing, rushed and a bit weak conclusion.
This should’ve been the ending of #1, which should be read/listened to after #2.

A good story but so repetitive
Revisado: 06-03-23
Something has happened to the writing of the wonderful author-the last few books I have read/heard are totally tedious in their slowness. Every description, be it if clothing, torment, mental flip flopping, is dragged on and on and on and on…. You get the idea. The story is decent, but it’s too predictable-next there will be a huge war, the demons will ultimately lose, and it will take forever. And it takes forever to get through it-i found myself skipping ahead often. I think I will finally not read any more of her later works or especially her collaborations with Larry Dixon-whom I believe is her husband. They are just tedious. And in fact
