Historia
Even when finding oneself engaged in interstellar war, good form must be observed. Our story is set thousands of years after the Terran Exodus, where two powerful, planet-dominating families - the elegant House Jakabitus and the less refined Hahn Empire - have reached a critical point in their generations-long war. Master Hennik, the Hahn ruler's only son, has been captured, and the disposition of his internment may represent a last and welcome chance for peace.

Historia
Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

mediocrity
Revisado: 03-06-18
if you were looking for inventive world building and lovable characters you aren't gonna find them here. The setting and characters are fresh from the cookie cutter. Woman who writes reports on the activities of supernatural creatures for the shadow government is a little too tightly wound and work obsessed goes to a colorful Cajun town and meets a bunch of colorful characters including a straight talking no nonsense sheriff who is also a dragon. they don't get along until they both realize the other person is hot then they bone down.
If you were hoping for steamy sex. you are going to be disappointed here as well. You want to know what those scenes are like?
"We got naked his dick was big. He stuck it in me and thrusted the thrusts were large and good. I cummed"
there, I saved you six hours. Now you can just imagine what it would be like to be a mythical creature having sex with a tightly wound blonde woman. Impressive considering that the author didn't bother to.

Martin and his friends discovered that their world is computer generated and that by altering the code they could alter reality. They traveled back in time to Medieval England to live as wizards. Almost everything they've done since then has, in one way or another, blown up in their faces. So of course they decide to make dragons. It does not go well.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

a perfect memoir
Revisado: 03-27-17
this book did a lot of things very well. At the beggining of each chapter Trevor Noah explains something about South Africa during and immediately after apartheid. Not only does this provide background for Trevor's childhood but it gives the reader a small idea of what life in South Africa was like the same way "Persepolis" did for life in Iran. The stories he tells are about a hard life but he does not tell them as a tragedy. Trevor Noah makes these stories both funny and full of powerful emotional impact. Trevor Noah was also an excellent narrator and I hope that he narrates other books for audible in the future.

just bad
Revisado: 11-14-16
This was just plain bad. The writing was corny and stilted and the delivery was melodramtic yet boring. they actually included a take where the narrator said the wrong word and then went back to the beginning of the sentence and tried again. The ending was the most hackneyed of all possible endings. If a 13 year old wrote this and showed it to me I would try to tell them as gently as possible to study the fundamentals of writing and storytelling and then try again. I want my $2.76 back

a good story with bad writing
Revisado: 11-08-16
Fans of the Five Nights at Freddy's games will enjoy the exploration of this world and the slow expansion of the mystery where some questions are answered and more questions appear. That being said this book has some serious problems. As a college freshman there were certain things my professor tried to drill into me about good writing. Don't state feelings, express them, the same goes for character traits and atmosphere. For example, early in the book at Charlie's childhood home begins to look more sinister to her as the sun sets and the shadows grow long. Instead of saying "the building began to look sinister" the author should have described the appearance until the reader started to see a sinister looking place in their mind's eye.
