Gallileo lives here.

Once he was just a name in my science book. Now I think I would have liked to be his friend. Kim Stanley Robinson wrote a beautiful story and George Guidall breathed life into that story as no one else could.

I just finished listening to The Darkest Time of Night and The Dark Above in succession. What a great story! I really enjoyed the take on the whole UFO abduction thing. It was an explanation that made a kind of sense and brought the story to a believable conclusion. Suzanne Toren did a perfect reading.

The Visitor is all that!
Revisado: 11-16-19
I only have about 3 hours every morning to myself to drink my coffee and listen to a good book while I knit or crochet or do some other mostly brainless task. For me, the test of a great audiobook is whether or not I think about the story after I've stopped it for the day, if I look forward to starting it back up the next, and if I feel what the characters feel. This is a great story with fascinating characters as well as intriguing science. Very enjoyable.

Loved it!
Revisado: 02-14-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If I had not already purchased the second and third books of this series, I would be doing that now. The first installment was so enjoyable I nearly cried when it ended, not because it had a sad ending but because I was sad that the story was over!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Adam is a hero. He denies it, but he is. He is an immortal who has seen all the good and bad that life can offer and still hasn't lost his humanity. And he has a sense of humor about it all that is rather uplifting for the reader.
Which character – as performed by Steve Carlson – was your favorite?
Steve Carlson was the perfect voice for this book. His performance of all the assorted characters was as perfect as I could wish for.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Oh, I could have listened to all of it in one sitting, but I spread it out over two days. A book this good doesn't come along every day and I wanted to savor it as long as possible.

Historia
Nobody knew where it came from. Nobody knew why it came. When an eight-foot-tall man made of stone appears in the middle of a busy city center one July afternoon, two-bit (and antisocial) reporter Andy Pointer assumes it's just a publicity stunt. Indeed, so does everyone else...until the Stone Man begins to walk, heading silently through the wall of the nearest building, flattening it, and killing several people inside as a result.

An adventure to remember.
Revisado: 11-17-15
What did you love best about The Stone Man?
Loved the characters so intimately drawn and realized. I empathized with them all, putting myself in their place and trying to think of what I would do a feel.
I found myself looking forward the next twist in the adventure.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Stone Man?
I will never forget Henry.
What does Matt Addis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Matt Addis "acted" the reading, bringing the characters into the real world like few narrators can. The best audiobooks are always "acted" rather than simply read.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When they had to take Henry to the Stone Man, I was sad and awestruck by his bravery. There were other parts that moved me as well but I don't want to give too much away.
Any additional comments?
Not every book I listen to stays with me. I will remember this one.
