I don’t disagree with the content of this book, but (like others) the constant interruptions to give scripture references was too much to bear. I plan to buy the printed version so my eye can skim over the scripture references. This book is not good for listening, but will be a good reference book in print form.

I have over 50 books in my audible library, and I've listened to almost all of them. But this is the only one that I liked so much that I also bought the print copy. At first I was a little surprised that she was reading her own book, but I don't think a professional narrator could have expressed her enthusiasm for the topic and her 'cute' personality.

I first read The Frontiersmen in the late 1960s. When I saw it in the Audible library I had to listen to it. Needless to say, it didn't disappoint me. The story is historically accurate, the plot is excellently written, and the narration is perfect--the best I've heard on Audible.

First of all, it was short, only about an hour. Next, I felt like I was listening to a PowerPoint presentation, without the benefit of seeing the slides.
The content sometimes was almost insultingly basic, For example, he actually said the difference between short term and long term food storage is that short term food storage only lasts a short time, while long term storage lasts a longer time.
But, with all that said, I did learn a few things. If you're very new to prepping this might be a good primer for you. For all others, I wouldn't recommend it.

The book presents the ideal prepper group situation with a lot of excellent suggestions about gear, guns, tactics, and philosophies, all wrapped in a good story. I enjoyed it and I'll probably refer to the book as a reference for products and skills in the future. The story dragged a little in some sections, such as the chapter on radio stuff, but; otherwise, I would've rated it a solid 5 across the board.
