Wow
Revisado: 05-27-21
Wow. Just wow. I don’t even know how I feel right now. There are SO many life lessons in this book. It’s long, but it’s worth it. You’ll spend the whole book realizing just how important friendships are and how we should never take them for granted.

When a terrible drought struck William Kamkwamba's tiny village in Malawi, his family lost all of the season's crops, leaving them with nothing to eat and nothing to sell. William began to explore science books in his village library, looking for a solution. There, he came up with the idea that would change his family's life forever: he could build a windmill. Made out of scrap metal and old bicycle parts, William's windmill brought electricity to his home and helped his family pump the water they needed to farm the land.

I absolutely loved this book! I have read many books that take place during WWII, but I’ve never read a story that takes place in post-war Germany. It was really good!

I don’t know why this took me two years to read, but I’m so glad I took my students’ advice. It’s super cute, and I even shed a few tears (though I easily do!). Great for upper elementary.

Historia
A hilarious new middle grade novel from beloved and best-selling author Gordon Korman about what happens when the worst class of kids in school is paired with the worst teacher. The Unteachables never thought they’d find a teacher who had a worse attitude than they did. And Mr. Kermit never thought he would actually care about teaching again. Over the course of a school year, though, room 117 will experience mayhem, destruction - and maybe even a shot at redemption.

Revisado: 05-22-19
This was interesting way to view September 11th. I’m happy I read the author’s note so I understood her reasoning. However, I was left wanting more and wishing there was more about the actual day. I would still recommend to my students.
