Historia
For decades Malibu Creek State Park was the spectacular natural setting where Hollywood fantasies were made. But when a female camper is gunned down, it becomes a real-life killing ground. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives Eve Ronin and Duncan Pavone are assigned the case...which Duncan fears is the latest in a series of sniper attacks that began long before Eve came to Lost Hills.

ok but predictable
Revisado: 12-20-24
An interesting addition to the Eve Ronin series. Unfortunately, the killer became obvious about 2/3 of the way through the book, but somehow the star detective Eve Ronin couldn't see it. So the story became very boring at that point.

Historia
Dr. Abby Corman has a bold idea: open a stable doorway between our world and an uninhabited parallel Earth. A new world we can use to mine resources to end poverty, grow enough food to end all hunger, and allow for population growth to end overcrowding. What could be a more noble aspiration for a brilliant young scientist? But the path to hell is paved with good intentions....

predictable, formulaic and unrealistic
Revisado: 07-14-21
yet another "science based" thriller that follows the same tired formula and is written by someone who apparently has no idea how science or government funding works nor of the personality types that spend their lives in these fields. as someone who has, I couldn't make it past the 2 hour mark. don't waste your time or money

Too slow
Revisado: 06-29-21
interesting story but the pace is much too slow. way too much time spent on mundane details. it sounds like he was hoping it would be turned into a movie and made sure to give enough information so the set details would be correct. this causes the story to really drag.

Tedious
Revisado: 12-03-20
It is very slow-paced and characters are shallow and not particularly believable. I gave up during episode 3.

Historia
In Los Angeles in 1988, a 16-year-old girl disappeared from her home and was later found dead of a gunshot wound to the chest. The death appeared at first to be a suicide, but some of the evidence contradicted that scenario, and detectives came to believe this was in fact a murder. Despite a by-the-book investigation, no one was ever charged.

Way too long!
Revisado: 09-04-20
I'm a Connelly fan but he lost his way on this one. He seems much more interested in displaying all the minutiae he knows about the LAPD than he is about writing a gripping well-paced story. The plot itself was interesting. If it was 30% shorter it would probably be a good book. I eventually finished this just to see what happened, but I was pretty sick of it long before that.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

terrible narrator
Revisado: 06-01-20
I read this book a few years back and was really looking forward to listening to it on a recent trip. But the narrator is so bad that I couldn't get past him and stopped after about half an hour. Don't waste your money on the audiobook
