Historia
In the grand tradition of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, Stanislaw Lem's The Invincible tells the story of a space cruiser sent to an obscure planet to determine the fate of a sister spaceship whose communication with Earth has abruptly ceased. Landing on the planet Regis III, navigator Rohan and his crew discover a form of life that has apparently evolved from autonomous, self-replicating machines—perhaps the survivors of a “robot war.” Rohan and his men are forced to confront the classic quandary: what course of action can humanity take once it has reached the limits of its knowledge?

Skip the Foreward!
Revisado: 05-04-25
Great SciFi story but I'm so glad I heard it first via a different outlet. I would have been pissed after listening to the foreward of this audiobook: it ruins the entire mystery of what's going on in order to gloat about how advanced the futuristic ideas presented for this novel's time were. Granted, give credit where credit is due but not at the cost of spoiling the whole damn plot--save it for the end.

Historia
In this deeply scary and intensely unnerving debut novel, Jake and a woman known only as "The Girlfriend" are on a drive to visit his parents at their secluded farm. But when Jake leaves "The Girlfriend" stranded at an abandoned high school, what follows is a twisted unraveling of the darkest unease, an exploration into psychological frailty, and an ending as suspenseful as The Usual Suspects and as haunting as Misery.

great puzzle!

I love stories that really make you think. They're captivating, intriguing, and open to interpretation. I initially watched the movie before I read the book thinking I was about to watch something different based on the trailer...at the end I thought to myself "what the hell was that?" I rewatched it and saw it was based on this book so I decided to get it and the narrative is close enough between the two but not exactly the same. The book gives more explicit clues as to what/who the story is really about though. Funny enough, there's less reading between the lines with the book. Gonna go back and watch the movie again to see what I think. If you love stories that are given to you as a puzzle this is definitely for you.

Historia
Decorated Navy SEAL Lieutenant Jason Redman served his country courageously and with distinction in Colombia, Peru, Afghanistan, and Iraq, where he commanded mobility and assault forces. But his journey was not without its supreme challenges. He was critically wounded in 2007 when he was struck by machine-gun fire at point blank range. During his intense recovery period, Redman posted a sign on his door, warning all who entered not to "feel sorry for [his] wounds."

realistic and motivational
Revisado: 11-12-18
the most realistic representation of the life of a SEAL through a book I've read yet. how you approach obstacles and overcome them, how you find new purpose, and how to live with no regrets. it's about making genuine mistakes, dealing with your own immaturity/perception, and controlling how you handle adversity thrown at you. this isn't just a great book for aspiring SEALs or those interested in knowing more about them. if you need help dealing with problems in your life, I'd recommend this book to you.

The harrowing, true account from the brave men on the ground who fought back during the Battle of Benghazi. 13 Hours presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism.

sacrifice without recognition
Revisado: 05-11-17
the story is heart wrenching, thrilling, insightful, and at times comical. there is no overdramatic scenes-just clear and concise details that paint a picture in your mind and allow you feel the emotions rather than telling you how you should perceive the events. also in regards to movies based off these types of stories, 13hours was the closest-there are differences in regards to certain character's actions but there were some small details from the book that the movie included that made it nice for a previous reader of the book to see
