completely lies about gamergate
Revisado: 10-25-21
Not sure if there was a conflict of interest or just his own bias but for some reason he felt the need to completely lie about what gamergate was about. He seems pretty fair with most of the podcast so far, but he lied and parroted the corporate media talking points about gamergate.

Goes into depth and names those involved
Revisado: 08-05-21
One of the few sources I've found that actually goes into depth on the whole story and isn't afraid to name those involved. Mack makes inferences based on the facts he has, but makes it clear when he does and let's the facts lead him to his thoughts on others involvement.

Minimizes Ghislaine's crimes and involvement
Revisado: 08-05-21
Vicky makes her angle known from the beginning; this is a story about male power. She crafts the story to fit her narrative that Ghislaine was manipulated by an evil powerful man. She's so eager to turn her podcast into railing against patriarchy and powerful men that she downplays Ghislaine's crimes. Listening to her podcast you almost get the impression Ghislaine was a victim herself, but if you look into any other sources you will quickly learn of many of the evil acts Ghislaine likely committed. In the interest of not getting my account removed I will not go into detail, but there's ample accusations of disgusting unspeakable acts she perpetrated that Vicky never even brings up.

Historia
In 2011, a 26-year-old libertarian programmer named Ross Ulbricht launched the ultimate free market: the Silk Road, a clandestine website hosted on the Dark Web where anyone could trade anything - drugs, hacking software, forged passports, counterfeit cash, poisons - free of the government's watchful eye. It wasn't long before the media got wind of the new website where anyone - not just teenagers and weed dealers but terrorists and black hat hackers - could buy and sell contraband detection-free.

Many assumptions made
Revisado: 09-16-19
This is an amazing book if read as a Novel or a based on a true story adaptation. As a work of "Non-Fiction" the author takes so many liberties as to what he claims as undisputed fact. The author makes it clear that he thinks Ross is the mastermind behind the silk road and the only DPR, but does not make any case as to why there couldn't have been 1 more DPR. He makes a good case for why Ross could have been one of many DPR's, but no reasoning why he was the only DPR. He claims all chat logs and chat rooms are attributed to Ross, Then dismisses the fact that someone logged into the DPR account after Ross was arrested by saying it was only the forum account. I'm not sure how that wouldn't at least mean some of the forum account activity could have been attributed to another DPR, but this is just glossed over as if it's nothing to pay attention to. Even the first "murder" I couldn't help, but think he never actually ordered a murder. Bilton could have easily went over the full transcripts around this conversation, but choose to take selected messages instead. One could easily take messages out of context to imply guilt and reinforce their narrative.
I would have been fine with all of the speculation and assumptions if they were disclosed as such, but Bilton chooses to present these assumptions as fact without stating it to the audience. It makes for a good story but is extremely irresponsible to do in a work of non-fiction and borders on slander.

Historia
“I have sensed a disturbance in the Force.” Ominous words under any circumstances, but all the more so when uttered by Emperor Palpatine. On Batuu, at the edges of the Unknown Regions, a threat to the Empire is taking root - its existence little more than a glimmer, its consequences as yet unknowable. But it is troubling enough to the Imperial leader to warrant investigation by his most powerful agents: ruthless enforcer Lord Darth Vader and brilliant strategist Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Great story and a must read for any star wars fan.
Revisado: 08-01-18
Overall this is one of the best novels since the Disney era started. Just be careful not to raise expectations too high. While this is a great book I don't think it's as good as the EU Thrawn books or the first Disney Thrawn book. Vader and Thrawn both seemed a little under powered in this story. When judging the book I think it's important to compare it to all the star wars novels and not just the Thrawn novels. The Thrawn novels so far are some of the best books ever written so if you go into it expecting it to be as good or better you may be disappointed, but if you expect a solid exciting star wars read you'll be happy with this one.

Overall a Great Story

Any additional comments?
Overall this was a great story. Even though the narrator did a good job this story really could have used multiple narrators for the different characters. The story keeps you captivated the whole time. One of the few problems I had was the need for the gender neutral pronouns section of the story; it felt forced and unnecessary, like they were just including it to make a statement about gender pronouns without adding anything to the story. (Its worth mentioning this was a very short part) The Holdo in this story is a lot different that the one in the Last Jedi and I think fans will appreciate the fresh perspective. I just wish we would've seen a Holdo more like the one in this story in the Last Jedi as well. All in all it was a great story and I would definitely recommend.

Obviously with the amount of stories there is going to be a lot of variation in the quality between them. Even though a few of the stories weren't the greatest, the good stories more than made up for it. There's a lot of cool behind the scenes facts and stories that add to the original. If you're looking to a fun addition to the original story you'll love this book, just don't be expecting a new story or plot.
