Historia
After a long and eventful winter, DCI Ryan and his team are looking forward to the joys of spring. But, when one of their colleagues is shot dead on her own doorstep and the brass think it’s an inside job, Ryan finds himself drafted in to investigate. He’s barely scratched the surface when reports flood in of a terror explosion at Durham Cathedral. Chaos descends on the sleepy, historic city and, when the smoke clears, they find a priceless artefact that once belonged to Saint Cuthbert is missing.

I love the history embedded into the storyline.

The characters are so very rich in development that I can imagine knowing them. The wholesome values and inoffensive language allow me to listen in the car with my young grands without fear.

Historia
When the body of a talented photographer is found on the rocks beneath the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, DCI Ryan and his team of detectives immediately suspect the worst. But, since none of their potential suspects seems to have a motive, the case runs cold. Then, when another body is found dead on a lonely stretch of road near Hadrian’s Wall and their only suspect has an airtight alibi, the team are faced with another crime without a perpetrator.

I don’t often write reviews on the books I listen to. This book is a glorious web of threads woven into a beautifully narrated tale. Rich with intrigue, cultural folklore and vivid imagery, this story offers suspense and intrigue to keep even the most prolific reader enthralled.

Historia
Twenty-five years ago, Maggie Holt and her parents, Ewan and Jess, moved into Baneberry Hall, a rambling Victorian estate in the Vermont woods. Three weeks later they fled in the dead of night, an ordeal Ewan later recounted in a nonfiction book called House of Horrors. His horror memoir of ghostly happenings and encounters with malevolent spirits became a worldwide phenomenon, rivaling The Amityville Horror in popularity — and skepticism.

Great and unpredictable story.

Had a little trouble with the performance and the accents. In particular, Jess from the past sounded uninterested and possibly high. Overall an impressive tale that I enjoyed.
