Historia
When Charlie Blair left Chicago behind—and her old life as Lauren Claybourne—for a gig in the Santa Cruz DA's office, things were supposed to be easier. Or at least nothing that a couple of Xanax and a tumbler of vodka couldn't handle. The plan had been working, until the murder of a local bail bondsman Shelly Hansen. Enter: hotshot prosecutor Erika Lorman, she of the stellar record and unfailing touch with juries, a veritable legend in her own right.

Good read
Revisado: 01-30-23
The read itself is fairly good. The plot is twisty and definitely easy to follow. I had a hard time with the two main characters with their traumatic backgrounds. At times that took away from the main storyline. All in all it was worth the read.

Historia
These are crazy times, people. We are more agitated than ever. We’re fighting. Wrestling with big issues. Less connected than ever to one another and to God. It’s a perfect storm: debilitating anxiety, crashing relationships, and forgetting what it feels like to, well, be human. In How to Human, author, speaker, and social-media personality Carlos Whittaker offers a fresh vision for becoming the best versions of ourselves. We can refuse to let disagreements define us. We can say no to becoming upset, rage-filled humans and say yes to fuller, happier lives.

Let's get back to being better humans
Revisado: 01-25-23
This was an easy book to listen to. I preordered this book and started listening asap. I will probably buy a hard copy too. Carlos narrated it and the forward is by Sharon McMahon. I am a huge Carlos Whitaker fan. I've been reading his books for years and watching him on IG well (before the stuff of 2020 which he goes into in the book). Some might not view issues the way Carlos does - but his standpoint of "don't stand on issues stand with people" resonates deeply with me and it should helps us all help the world be a better place. If you've never listened to Carlos - look for his IG. The Instafamilia is a real community of people of varying beliefs who truly want to do their part to make the world a better place. His page his heartwarming, helpful and inspiring. And he LOVES Jesus. Take time to listen to or read this book. It might be JUST what you need to do your part to help change the world by remembering we are ALL human regardless of politics and opinions. I think that's his biggest goal.

Historia
Shelby works as a dog walker in northern California, and she’s just finished up her bi-weekly trip to the park with a husky named Pluto. When she brings him back to his house, she finds his owner - Todd Burke, a well-known local businessman and founder of an organic supplements company - lying on the bathroom floor, dead. A detective arrives on the scene. As she interviews Shelby, the body is inspected by a medical examiner, and more cops search Todd’s home, it becomes clear that the victim’s life was less picture-perfect than his clean-cut persona might lead you to believe.

Good Novela - Definitely Twists
Revisado: 01-03-23
This was good for a novella. I don't usually read many because I like to know more about the characters and background story. But even though this was short it was done well and kept my interest. Sleeping Dogs Lie is a short audible book about a homicide, a dog walker and what really happened on that fateful day. The audiobook was well written, and the narrators were good!
