A fun cozy!
Revisado: 02-23-25
Sydney Leigh did a fantastic job of breathing fresh air into the cozy genre with a contemporary quick-witted story that made me want to book a stay at the Pearl B&B (even with the murders)
I was kicking myself at the end wondering how I’d missed the clues and got sidetracked by the clever red herrings.

Historia
When Grady and his dad learn that the town oddball, Eudora "Kooky" Klinch, left something for them in her will, they can only imagine what it might be. When it turns out it's an old scrap of 300-year-old tapestry, they are bitterly disappointed. But the cloth comes with a note saying, "This is no ordinary piece of needlework. It's a treasure map. Riddles and Clues. To the victor go the riches." Grady's dad dismisses it, but Grady thinks this could be the chance of a lifetime.

A compelling and fun mystery!
Revisado: 05-06-24
I ordered The Mystery of the Radcliffe Riddle when I discovered the book was nominated for an Agatha Award for best children’s/YA of 2023 and it quickly became clear why it was nominated. Sharp, clever writing, wonderful characters, a fun small town setting, a compelling multi-faceted mystery, satisfying from first page to last. Treasure hunts and bits of interesting and lesser known history facts elevate the story even further.
Highly recommend for kids AND adults
(Also the audiobook narrator was fantastic!)

Almost-authentic medium Claire and her best friend, Sophie, agree to take on a seemingly simple job at a crumbling old manor in the English countryside: performing a seance for the family matriarch's 80th birthday. The pair have been friends since before Sophie went missing when they were seventeen. Everyone else is convinced Sophie simply ran away, but Claire knows the truth. Claire knows Sophie was murdered because Sophie has been haunting her ever since.

A fun and funny nursery mystery in the classic sense but with a twist!

This book was recommended to me when I was bemoaning “funny” mysteries that didn’t get a single LOL out of me. There are plenty in this book 😏

Hot sun, hot mystery, hot romance
Revisado: 03-21-21
Photo Finished (Aloha Lagoon Mysteries Book 14) was exactly the mental tropical getaway I needed to escape days on end of 45 degrees and overcast or raining.
The thing that’s nice about this series is you can pick it up at any point and not be lost, as they are stand-alones written by multiple authors all taking place at the same Hawaiian resort community.
In Photo Finished, Autumn is a photographer who takes a job at the resort for the paycheck and the opportunity it presents, but isn’t really a fan of doing cheesy luau portraits. She has aspirations of being a gallery photographer. When a pro surfer is found face-down in his sushi during the luau, Autumn loses track of her camera and soon suspects the murderer has stolen it because she caught them on film. With the help of the resort’s head of security, her good friend Jimmy, Autumn finds herself investigating the murder herself... partly to bring a killer to justice, but also because she really wants her camera back. As the body count increases, so does the romantic tension between Autumn and Jimmy.
Equal parts mystery and romance, Photo Finished brings the heat to a dreary winter’s day as well as to a poolside chaise under the summer sun.
