Historia
Every day, we hear of relationships failing and questions of whether humans are meant to be monogamous. Love Sense presents new scientific evidence that tells us that humans are meant to mate for life. Dr. Johnson explains that romantic love is an attachment bond, just like that between mother and child, and shows us how to develop our "love sense" - our ability to develop long-lasting relationships. Love is not the least bit illogical or random, but actually an ordered and wise recipe for survival.

Another great book by Sue Johnson
Revisado: 12-26-21
Hold Me Tight was an amazing book and I've taken EFT-I Level I training to learn more from Sue Johnson. I was looking forward to reading this book for another course and Sue Johnson did not disappoint. This was not a rehash of Hold Me Tight. While the theme and basic concepts are he same, the book brought many new client examples, new scientific information, and more nuance to EFT that was interesting and educational.

Agree: poor substitute for the daily digest
Revisado: 12-11-21
The former WSJ daily digest was getting smaller and smaller over time but still had good quality articles with one opinion article typically. The new podcast format doesn't provide enough high quality content to make it worthwhile.
I'll stick to getting my news from The Economist magazine which has a version I can listen to also.

Just getting permission to not do things like reply to emails and avoid getting emails in the first place was super helpful. Techniques for deep work and thinking was icing on the cake.

Historia
Eight-year-old Edgar Fini remembers nothing of the accident people still whisper about. He only knows that his father is gone, his mother has a limp, and his grandmother believes in ghosts. When Edgar meets a man with his own tragic story, the boy begins a journey into a secret wilderness where nothing is clear—not even the line between the living and the dead. In order to save her son, Lucy has no choice but to confront the demons of her past.

Exploration of being human through love and death
Revisado: 05-10-17
Locator does a brilliant job representing the voices of a boy lost in untold stories, a mother that never grew up and struggles with life's losses, a grandmother who finds meaning through the children in her life. Each trying to navigate the many aspects of being human in their own way.
It's a long book, but I loved savoring each delicate part. The descriptions put you right in the scene, right in the mind of one of the characters. How Locator understands the inner workings of such a wide variety of people, is beyond me, but he nails the little kids innocent perspective, the mom's restless, young adult perspective, and the grandmother's grasping to stay connected and relevant to the family and the world in the last years of her life as people she loves fade away.
The book raises so many questions but they all come back to who loved whom and does any of the rest really matter?
I read another review indicating they didn't like the authors voice on this recording. I thought it was perfect. It was broken and distant when the characters were broken and distant. It was curious and alive, when the characters were. I can't imagine a better reading of the book.

More than just a LinkedIn manual
Revisado: 09-04-16
I got my LinkedIn account during the dinosaur age when it was brand new. I made an account because a lot friends were sending me invitations, one day I caved and started an account. I wasn't looking for a job or anyone to hire, so I didn't get it.
Fast forward ten/fifteen years and I'm leaving the family business to go on my own. My network and networking is very important now. LinkedIn took on a whole new meaning and purpose.
I knew my profile needed to be updated but wasn't sure how to make it the most effective. This book showed step by step from the smallest, changing your headline, to the most complex, how to engage with your network AND their network, how to maximize LinkedIn.
I did wonder if the book would end trying to "sell" the premium version of LinkedIn and was pleasantly surprised, no it didn't. There's plenty of power in the basic LinkedIn before even considering purchasing more.
I didn't just learn about LinkedIn either. I've read networking books before, but I learned some new basic networking concepts in this book. I did read the first Networking in the 21st Century book which also was packed with ideas. If you like the LinkedIn version and would like more ideas on networking, definitely check out that book also (hopefully available soon on Audible).

Done right, a talk can electrify a room and transform an audience's worldview. Done right, a talk is more powerful than anything in written form.

Get ready for an exciting journey?
Revisado: 06-16-16
Chris does an awesome job getting you excited to share your passions, even if you don't want to actually give a talk. You will be excited to give it a go after reading even a bit of this book. Then Chris proceeds to tell you exactly how to go about writing, rehearsing, and giving the talk. And it's all done within an ongoing story throughout the book. Fun, fun stuff!

Historia
Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

Requires completing the whole process
Revisado: 11-03-15
Many times in the book, it's mentioned that you have to complete the whole process in fell swoop (which takes 1 to 2 years). I think the books needs to be read from beginning to end before beginning. I expect to read, at least parts, several times while I go through the process. I was going to stop after the first chapter and am so glad I didn't. It got better and better as it went on. I realized I the first third of the book that this is really a philosophy more than a technique for cleaning and can be applied to other parts of your life. I've bought four copies of the books to share with family, some tidier than others. All of them can learn from the philosophy behind the system.
I hope you can learn to surround yourself with only things you love. The world will be a better place because of it.
