Historia
Early morning, August 1975: a camp counselor discovers an empty bunk. Its occupant, Barbara Van Laar, has gone missing. Barbara isn’t just any thirteen-year-old: she’s the daughter of the family that owns the summer camp and employs most of the region’s residents. And this isn’t the first time a Van Laar child has disappeared. Barbara’s older brother similarly vanished fourteen years ago, never to be found.

Compelling read
Revisado: 02-22-25
Many interesting characters, lots of plot twists and turns. Find Alice and her sister a little hard to believe but then I didn’t grow up with family wealth and reputation foremost to consider when making decisions

A family saga rich with intriguing characters set in Tasmania and Ireland.
Revisado: 11-27-23
Amanda Geard’s novel is compelling from start to finish. It is rich with intriguing characters who are developed in ways that make you want to know and their story. While I have visited Kerry many times, I had no knowledge of Tasmania and Australia’s role in WW 2. I wish it wasn’t so far away as after reading this I would love to visit… from Amanda’s description,it truly is the land down under. I have not read her first novel but will do so now. The narrator’s voice is lovely and enriches the tale.

Awesome
Revisado: 10-19-23
If you held any doubt about the enormity of what happened on Jan 6th, 2021, I can’t imagine you will after listening to Cassidy tell her story. It pains me to think of what she was put through and what she almost accepted for herself in the aftermath of January 6th insurrection. Her bravery and courage are remarkable. She is a true patriot
